The Fullbright Program, named after J. William Fulbright, 1905–1995, is one of several United States Cultural Exchange Programs. It was started with the goal of improving intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy, and intercultural competence between the USA and other countries with the help of education.

The Fulbright Program was established with a mission to bring a little more knowledge, a little more reason, and a little more compassion into world affairs and in turn, increase the chance that nations will learn to live in peace and friendship at last. The founder, J. William Fulbright, believed that the first requirements for a hopeful future for humankind are creative leadership and liberal education.
