UC Irvine awards various scholarships which include Merit-Based Scholarships, Need-Based Scholarships, Department Scholarships, Stipends, Fellowships, etc. UC Irvine scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement. Additionally, some scholarships are awarded with respect to financial need or other specific criteria such as city of residence, major or special skills. Types of Scholarships: 

Undergraduate Scholarships for Freshmen and Transfer Students:

UC Irvine merit-based scholarships are awarded to entering freshmen who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement as demonstrated by their high school GPA as reported on the admissions application, SAT (or ACT) scores, personal statements, and depth and breadth of the admissions application. It is divided in to three categories i.e. Merit based scholarships, Need-Based Scholarships and Department Scholarships, Stipends, Fellowships, etc. here is the list you can explore:

1). Merit-Based Scholarships: UC Irvine merit-based scholarships are awarded to entering freshmen who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement as demonstrated by their high school GPA as reported on the admissions application, SAT (or ACT) scores, personal statements, and depth and breadth of the admissions application.
-The Regents’ Scholarships are available to freshmen entering from high school. The amount of the award is established each year. In addition to the scholarship award, Regents’ Scholars also receive other benefits from the University. Regents’ Scholars receive a priority window for class registration, graduate level library privileges, Regents’ Scholar notation on official transcripts and an offer of guaranteed on-campus housing.
-UCI Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship is awarded for new freshmen and transfer students who demonstrate academic excellence, community service and leadership potential. Freshman and Transfer applicants require a minimum GPA of 3.65.
-The UCI XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship is available for Scholars who have completed a minimum of 90 units of UCI-accepted coursework. Award of up to $10,000 from UCI for fees for 2017-2018 and a grant of up to $10,000 from Dalai Lama Fellows to support your project costs. The project must be completed during 2015-2016.
-John Ichiro Yasuda Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 for the 2017-2018 year to an outstanding Junior student. The scholarship is renewable for a second year during the student’s senior year.

2). Need-Based Scholarships: UC Irvine need-based scholarships are awarded to freshmen based on a combination of academic achievement and financial need, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. To qualify for need-based scholarships students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
-Brython P. Davis Scholarship up to $1,000 will be awarded to students enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking undergraduate program at the University of California, Irvine. One of the applicant’s parents must currently be, or have been, a regular member of either the United States Navy or Marine Corps.
-La Verne Noyes Scholarship of up to $1,000 will be awarded who is a United States citizen and is a blood descendant of a United States Army or Navy World War I veteran. Veteran must have served for at least four months prior to November 11, 1918, and whose military service was terminated by death or an honorable discharge.
-Mabel Wilson Richards Scholarship of $1,000 (multiple awards) value will be available for funding. Applicants must be a resident of one of the cities listed in the application. Residence is determined in the same manner as at the University of California and the California State Colleges.
-Malcolm Stacey Memorial Scholarship varies from $500 – $3,000 in value. The scholarship is awarded to freshmen and transfer students entering in the fall quarter that have demonstrated a strong academic record, financial need and who are of Jewish heritage.
-Stanley Behrens Scholarship is awarded to an Orange County graduating high school senior who has demonstrated recognizable talents and will be attending UC Irvine in the fall of 2016. The award is a conditionally renewable $2,500 scholarship and is contingent upon the applicant being admitted to UC Irvine.
-Elliott Family Foundation Scholarship is a prestigious and highly competitive scholarship given to incoming transfer students who are transferring from selected California Community Colleges. Students must demonstrate financial need and leadership potential.
-Laurel Wilkening Scholarship is awarded to transfer students from Santa Ana College who have been admitted for the fall quarter. Preference is given to students enrolling at the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Science, the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, the School of Biological Sciences or the School of Physical Sciences. Juniors are eligible to renew their scholarship for one additional year.
-Osher Foundation Scholarship will assist students transferring to UCI for fall 2016. The scholarship will aid students who demonstrate academic promise and significant financial need. The scholarship amount is up to $5,000 and will be applied during the 2016-17 academic year towards tuition and fees only. Multiple awards will be given.
-Town and Gown Scholarship is for a mature student who has experienced a five year break in attendance in his/her educational career. Students should have indicated on their UC Application for Admission, information that will qualify them for this scholarship.

3). Department Scholarships, Stipends, Fellowships, Etc.: Academic departments and campus organizations offer various scholarship opportunities. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships recommends that students contact UC Irvine Departments with which they are involved to learn about scholarship opportunities. Each department has separate processes and criteria for the scholarships they administer.

Undergraduate Scholarships for Current Students

These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement. Additionally, some scholarships are awarded with respect to financial need, or other specific criteria such as leadership, major or special skills. There are various scholarships available for undergraduate students like Ching-Suei Su Scholarship of $2,500; Christine Jones Memorial Endowed Scholarship to a female undergraduate student in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering in which award amount depending on funding availability; Dean’s Award for Community Engagement recognizes undergraduate and graduate students from the School of Social Ecology who contribute their talents and become active members of the community while they are pursuing their academic degrees, Deborah and Peter Pardoen Memorial Scholarship awarded to students studying mechanical or aerospace engineering, Dorothy and Donald Strauss Scholarship administered alternatively by the Women’s Opportunity Center and the School of Humanities. Apart from this there are various other scholarships available for undergraduates they are: Dr John R Miltner Annual Scholarship, Dr John R Miltner / Irvine Health Foundation Endowed Memorial Scholarship, Dr Ryoji Yokoyama Undergraduate Scholarship, Dunicliffe Scholarship, Electrical Engineering Scholarship, Engineering Dean’s Excellence Scholarship, Engineering Undergraduate Award etc are also available for current undergraduate students.

Graduate Scholarships:

Most Ph.D. students at UCI are supported by a combination of fellowships, teaching assistantships, research assistantships and faculty training grants. Because student funding is coordinated at the departmental level, be sure to ask your department about your options. Master’s students are typically self-supported but may be eligible for these resources. Check with the individual department/program for Master’s degree funding opportunities. There are avrios types of scholarships available like:
1). Internal Fellowships are awards administered by UC Irvine Graduate Division.  These competitive awards provide stipends in varying amounts.
2). Diversity Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to qualified diversity students. Students do not apply for these fellowships directly, but are nominated for consideration by the home department.
3). Extramural Fellowships are merit-based support provided by external national, international or private foundations.  Many awards have competition due dates up to a year before the money is distributed for the following academic school year.
4). International Fellowships are extramural fellowships that provide support for the student to conduct research outside of the United States.
5). Recruitment Fellowships are awards administered by the UC Irvine Graduate Division. Graduate programs nominate their top newly admitted students for these additional funds to help increase yield. These fellowships include multi-year diversity fellowships as well as top off awards to department financial offers.
Other scholarships are available for Medical students, Business Students and Law Students etc.

Other Scholarships:

1). School of Medicine Scholarships: The Health & Science Enrichment Programs are committed to serving high school students regardless of their ability to pay. The 2016 summer program is offering fully paid scholarships to qualified applicants from low-income families who attend high school in underserved areas of Southern California. It is preferred that the student have transportation, unless applying for room and board. The university offers 2-3 scholarship spots for room and board during the third session only for those who live in Southern California, but outside Orange County. Deadline for scholarship applications is March 1, 2017.

2). SAGE Scholars Program The SAGE Scholars Program is a multi-faceted program that provides multiple benefits for its student scholars. SAGE targets and recruits highly motivated and talented individuals in the UCI community who demonstrate a significant need for financial aid. Student work status must met one of the following: must be a US Citizen, must have Permanent Resident Status and must be a student with (or in the process of completing) DACA Status.
