Black Leaders in Cancer PhD Scholarship Program at University of Cambridge, UK

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) is launching the Black Leaders in Cancer PhD Scholarship Program at the University of Cambridge. The program is open to attracting international students from black heritage backgrounds for a new postgraduate studentship program in the UK available for the academic year 2023-2024.

This award program is available for people who self-identify as being from a Black heritage background, including a mixed black background including Black African, Black Caribbean, or other Black backgrounds. With aims to help develop the next generation of Black leaders in cancer research, Cambridge will provide a fully-funded 4-year PhD studentship (non-clinical) according to their standard PhD funding rates, including stipend, research consumables, and UK home tuition fees.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: This scheme is open to people who self-identify as being from a Black heritage background, including a mixed background, for example, Black African, Black Caribbean, Black Other, or Mixed background (to include Black African, Black Caribbean, or other Black backgrounds).
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to Black Leaders in Cancer Ph.D. Scholarship Program offered by the university.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following given criteria:
  • Candidate must also meet the general entry requirements for the PhD program at a CRUK Centre, which typically include the following:
  • The program is aimed at students from Black heritage backgrounds pursuing a PhD in cancer-related fields.
  • This scheme is open to people who self-identify as being from a Black heritage background, including a mixed background, for example, Black African, Black Caribbean, Black Other, or Mixed background (to include Black African, Black Caribbean, or other Black backgrounds).
  • Hold or expect to graduate with a first or upper-second-class undergraduate honors degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (or equivalent from a non-UK university)
  • Have appropriate research experience as part of, or outside of, an undergraduate or master’s degree course in a relevant subject.
  • Meet English language requirements as set by the host institution.
