Types of Scholarships:

Davis Law Group Scholar Athlete Program

The Davis Law Group started the DLG Scholar Athlete Program to recognize outstanding senior-class student athletes who perform both on the field and in the classroom. The winners receive a $1,000 scholarship and a beautiful glass trophy commemorating their achievement. For a student to be recognized as the Davis Law Group Scholar Athlete of the Week, he or she must have at least a 3.0 GPA, attend a Washington State high school, have enough credits to be recognized as a senior and perform as a major contributor in his or her sport(s).

Kyle R. Magoto Scholarship Fund

To apply for this scholarship applicant should be eligible for an award from the Kyle R. Magoto Scholarship Fund, applicant must be a Russia High School (Shelby Co., Ohio) graduating senior who is pursuing an associate or a bachelor’s degree as a full-time student at an accredited educational institution, have a high school GPA not less than 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale and must have participated in no less than five (5) athletic seasons throughout high school 2016 scholarship application will open January 1.

The Professional Bowlers Association Billy Welu Scholarship

The Professional Bowlers Association Billy Welu Scholarship is awarded annually, recognizing exemplary qualities in male or female college students who compete in the sport of bowling. The scholarship winner receives $1,000. To be eligible candidates must be amateur bowlers who are currently in college (preceding the application date) and maintain at least a 2.5/4.0 GPA or equivalent. Applications must be postmarked by June 15.

USBC Bowling Scholarships:

USBC Alberta E. Crowe Star of Tomorrow: This award annually recognizes star qualities in a female high school senior or college student who competes in the sport of bowling. Star qualities include distinguished bowling performance on the local, regional, state and national levels, academic achievement and extracurricular and civic involvement. The award winner receives a $6,000 scholarship.

USBC Annual Zeb Scholarship: The award recognizes a USBC Youth member who achieves academic success and gives back to their community through service. Applicants must be in their junior or senior year of high school, and must be USBC Youth members in good standing. This scholarship is based mainly on community service and very strong academic success. Bowling success does not factor into the selection process. The winner receives a $2,500 scholarship and an expenses-paid trip for the winner and a parent or guardian to attend the awards ceremony, held in conjunction with the USBC Convention.

USBC Chuck Hall Star of Tomorrow: This award annually recognizes star qualities in a male high school senior or college student who competes in the sport of bowling. Star qualities include distinguished certified bowling performance on the local, regional, state and national levels, academic achievement and extracurricular and civic involvement. The award winner receives a $6,000 scholarship.

USBC Earl Anthony Memorial Scholarship: USBC will award five USBC Youth members with a $5,000 scholarship. Candidates must be enrolled in their senior year of high school or presently attending college and must be current USBC Youth members in good standing. In addition, candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Individuals may win this award only once.

USBC Gift for Life Scholarships: The Gift for Life Scholarships are available to any USBC Youth member currently in high school currently holding a GPA of 2.5 or higher and who can demonstrate financial need. USBC awards up to 12 scholarships each year. Two of the six awards are reserved annually for children of fire department, emergency rescue or police personnel. Selected finalists may be asked to provide evidence of their financial need. Award winners receive a $1,000 college scholarship.

Bowling Scholarships

Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship Program

The Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship Program is separate and distinct from the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Program, which provides numerous annual awards with smaller stipends. The stipend for each Byers Scholarship is $24,000 for an academic year. United States citizenship is not a required criterion to satisfy eligibility requirements.

Shocker Bowling Scholarships

Wichita State University (WSU) offers several bowling scholarships for incoming students and current students. Applicants must be full-time students and must make the overall team roster (except incoming freshmen) to be eligible for aid. Two types of scholarships are provided: tuition scholarships and book loan scholarships. Approximately 25 tuition scholarships are available, valued at $700 or higher. There are also 25 textbook scholarships valued at $500 each. In addition to these awards, WSU also offers 11 other memorial/honorary scholarships for bowlers, ranging between $240 and $1,000 per semester.

Dexter/USBC High School All-American Team Scholarship

Any high school student (attending a U.S. school) with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, who also participates on his/her school’s bowling team, may be nominated for this award. A total of ten (10) $1,000 scholarships will be offered (five for boys and five for girls). Students must be nominated by their athletic directors or coaches.

Wisconsin Dells Family Bowling Scholarship Team Tournament

The Wisconsin Dells Family Bowling Scholarship Team Tournament invites family teams consisting of two junior bowlers and two adult bowlers to compete for student scholarships. USBA rules apply and winners receive scholarship money once they have actually enrolled in post-secondary colleges or universities.  The program is administered by the Wisconsin Dells Education Foundation.

Elmira Youth Bowling Scholarships 

These scholarships are open to student bowlers in the Elmira, New York youth bowling league. Applicants must be under 21 and enrolled in post-secondary educational programs. Awards are valued at $500 each.

Wisconsin State USBC Bowling Association Scholarships: The Wisconsin State USBC Bowling Association will award $5000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Scholarship funds will be sent to the college or school of higher learning that the recipient is attending. The scholarship funds will be held in escrow for up to six (6) years in the Smart Fund, and will be payable when verification of recipient’s continuance of the second semester.

Professional Bowlers Association Billy Welu Memorial Scholarship: Professional Bowlers Association offers one-time award to a currently enrolled student who demonstrates outstanding academic and bowling achievement. Applicant must be a member of USBC and must have minimum 2.5 GPA. The application deadline is 31st May 2016.

Greater Evansville United States Bowling Congress Association Scholarship: Up to $1,000 Scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who has been a member of the GEUSBCA for 2 of the last 4 years or who has a parent who has been a member of the GEUSBCA for 2 of the last 4 years. Selection will be based on academics, leadership, and community involvement. The application deadline is April 15.

Wichita State University Bowling Scholarships: Each year the scholarship program is in effect, the WSU bowling scholarship fund can support a predetermined number of partial scholarships, on a semester to semester basis. Scholarship recipients with in-state residency are awarded either $750 or $1,000 each semester based upon that recipient’s designation as a ‘dependent’ (student-athletes from the local area) or ‘independent’ (in-state student-athletes attending WSU from outside the local area) student. Application deadlines are May 1 and December 1 for fall and spring semesters, respectively.
