Eligibility 

  • Eligible Countries: International candidates from around the world are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: The award will be given in the base of story writing.
  • Eligibility Criteria: There is no geographical restriction on entry all published and unpublished writers around the world are welcome to apply. Entrants must be over 16 years old on the closing date.

How to Apply

  • How to apply: Applications must be submitted either online or by post. To apply offline applicants can download the application form and must be sent at Bristol Short Story Prize, Unit 5.16, Paintworks, Bath Road, Bristol BS4 3EH.
  • Supporting Documents: To apply, you need to submit a story and the maximum length must be 4,000 words. Stories can be on any theme or subject and are welcome in any style including graphic, verse or genre-based (Crime, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Historical, Romance, Children’s etc.).
  • Admission Requirements: There is no admission enrollment is required for the award.
  • Language Requirement: English language requirements for candidates who do not speak English as their first language.

Benefits

The award prize is as follows:

  • 1st prize is £1,000,
  • 2nd prize is £500, and
  • 3rd prize is £250.
  • 17 further prizes of £100 will be presented to the remaining shortlisted writers.
