CMU Scholarships for New Students for 2016-2017

Various central Michigan University scholarships are available to students for the year 2016-2017. On the basis of students’ classification available grants can also be characterized as Central Michigan University Scholarships for International Students, Scholarships for Central Michigan University Students, Central Michigan University Scholarships for Sophomores, Central Michigan University Scholarships for Transfer Students etc.

Recipients of CMU merit- and talent-based scholarships of a dollar value equal to or greater than $2,500 are required to reside on campus during their freshman and sophomore years unless they qualify as commuting students or for another exception to the Campus Residency Policy.

Centralis Scholarship Central Michigan University

Centralis Honors Scholarship Competition

CMU is seeking 150 top high school seniors to comprise the incoming Centralis Honors Scholar class for fall 2015. Register now to compete for a spot in the prestigious Honors Scholar Program and earn one of 150 Centralis Scholarships that range from full-tuition to full-ride. Competition spots are limited. Applicants must be High school seniors with a minimum 3.7 high school GPA and an ACT score of 27 or higher (or two-score SAT equivalents of 1220) are eligible to compete.

Centralis Scholar Award

T?wenty Centralis Scholar Awards are granted annually. The monetary value of this scholarship is equal to the cost of tuition, fees, room and board, and a $500 allowance toward the cost of books and supplies. The scholarship is renewable for three additional consecutive years if a 3.25 cumulative GPA and successful completion of 30 new credit hours is maintained.

Centralis Scholar

Effective fall 2015, the Centralis-Scholar Scholarship will pay 12 credits of tuition along with the room & board and $250 book stipend at the beginning of the semester.  The remaining credits that students are enrolled in for the semester (up to 36 total credits) will be paid by the Centralis-Scholar Scholarship the week after drop/add have ended.
Centralis Gold Award 

130 Centralis Gold Awards will be granted for 2016-2017. The value of this scholarship is equal to the cost of full tuition up to 36 credits per academic year.  The scholarship is renewable for new freshmen for three additional consecutive years if a 3.25 cumulative GPA and successful completion of 30 new credit hours are maintained.

New Academic Awards for 2016-2017

Scholarship funds for the Academic Prestige, Academic Excellence, and Academic Success Awards are limited and the awarding process is competitive. Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee a student will receive a scholarship. The best way to improve your candidacy is to submit all admission application materials as soon as possible.

Academic Success Award
This scholarship honors high school students who have a 3.00 cumulative GPA and an ACT composite score of 21 or 22 (980 SAT). The value of this award $3000 per academic year and is awarded to new freshmen who meet eligibility requirements. Funds are limited and are awarded first come, first served basis. The scholarship is renewable for 3 consecutive years if a 3.25 cumulative GPA and successful completion of 30 new credit hours is maintained.

Lloyd M. Cofer and Multicultural Advancement Scholarships
Up to 10 Lloyd M. Cofer scholarships are awarded annually to deserving incoming freshmen who are graduates of a Detroit public high school. Up to 60 Multicultural Advancement Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates who through past activities or educational aspirations indicate an interest in the advancement of underrepresented groups in American society. The value of these scholarships is $4,125 per academic year. The Cofer and Multicultural Advancement scholarships are renewable for three additional years for recipients if a 2.50 cumulative GPA, full-time continuous enrollment, and successful completion of at least 24 new credit hours per year are maintained.
Up to 10 Multicultural?Advancement Awards of Distinction are also awarded each year. The value of this scholarship is $10,500 per academic year to be used toward the cost of tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies.

Academic Prestige Award
This scholarship honors high school students who have a 3.25 cumulative GPA and an ACT composite score of 27 or higher (1210 SAT).   The value of this award is $6000 per academic year and is awarded to new freshman who meet eligibility requirements.  Funds are limited and are awarded first come, first served basis. The scholarship is renewable for 3 consecutive years if a 3.25 cumulative GPA and successful completion of 30 new credit hours is maintained.

President’s Award
The President’s Award is granted to non-Michigan resident high school seniors with  at least a 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average  and to non-Michigan resident transfer students who have earned 30 or more credit hours with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) and who enroll directly at Central Michigan University as full-time, on-campus students. The value of the award is equal to the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition for the academic year.

Academic Excellence Award
This scholarship honors high school students who have a 3.00 cumulative GPA and an ACT composite score of 23 or higher (1050 SAT).  The value of this award $4500 per academic year and is awarded to new freshmen who meet eligibility requirements. Funds are limited and are awarded first come, first served basis. The scholarship is renewable for 3 consecutive years if a 3.25 cumulative GPA and successful completion of 30 new credit hours is maintained.

Native American Advancement Award
The Native American Advancement Award is awarded to one new freshman each year. The award is for $3,000 per year and is renewable for up to four years. The award can be applied to tuition, fees, books, and/or room and board.

CMU Leader Advancement Scholarship Program

Le?ader Advancement scholarships are awarded each year to 40 outstanding Michigan high school seniors who have distinguished themselves through a record of leadership in their schools and communities. Recipients are selected by a committee through the analysis of the scholarship application and a portfolio record of activities completed by the student. Competitors must have a minimum, cumulative high school GPA of 3.00. The value of the scholarship is $2000 per academic year and is renewable for three additional consecutive years if a 2.75 cumulative GPA and full-time continuous enrollment is maintained.

C.J. Brown Memorial Scholarship Application
Scholarship is available to freshman admitted to CMU by March 1st; and those who are Planning to pursue a major in arts, science, mathematics, or chemistry; Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Christman Company Scholarship Application
Scholarship is available to freshman admitted to CMU by March 1st; Majoring in Construction Management; and those who have completed three years of high school math; Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; Demonstrate financial need per the FAFSA.

Col. Harold L. Patrick Scholarship Application
This scholarship is offered to freshmen admitted to CMU by March 1st; Graduate of Mancelona High School; Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; Demonstrate financial need per the FAFSA.

Dick Enberg Health Professions Scholarship Application
