Chinese Government Scholarship-Chinese University Program for International Students, 2020

Ministry of Education of P.R. China (MOE) to support Chinese universities is pleased to offer scholarships for international students. Scholarships will be awarded to undertake master’s and doctoral degree at Chinese HEIs.

Chinese University Program is a full scholarship for designated Chinese universities and certain provincial education offices in specific provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. It only supports graduate students.

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) is a non-profit institution with legal person status affiliated with the Ministry of Education. The objective of the CSC is to provide, in accordance with the law, statutes and relevant principles and policies of China, financial assistance to the Chinese citizens wishing to study abroad and to the foreign citizens wishing to study in China in order to develop the educational, scientific and technological, and cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between China and other countries

Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and be in good health. They should meet the language requirements of higher education institutions. General English language requirements for English-instructed programs and Chinese-instructed programs are different.

Course Level: Scholarship is available for pursuing masters and doctoral degree at Chinese HEIs.

Study Subject(s): Scholarship is offered in all subjects offered by the Chinese HEIs.

Scholarship Award: The Chinese University Program provides a full scholarship which covers tuition waiver, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. Please refer to Introduction to CGS—Coverage and Standard for details of each item.

Eligibility: To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health
  • The requirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must: be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs or be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral programs.

Nationality: Non-Chinese citizens can apply for this scholarship.

College Admission Requirement:

Entrance Requirement: Chinese Government Scholarship supports international students, teachers and scholars to pursue degrees at all levels (bachelor’s, master’s and PhD) or non-degree studies and to conduct research in China.

Test Requirement: Not Required

English Language Requirements: General Chinese Language requirements for application to Chinese-instructed program

  • Old HSK6 (or new HSK5)or above is required for application of liberal arts, economics and management majored students.
  • Old HSK3 (or new HSK4) or above is required for application of science, engineering and medical science majored students.

    General English language requirements for application to English-instructed programs:
  • Free English Language testing for students from English speaking countries.
  • Free English Language testing for students from countries in which English is the major teaching language on condition that the relevant proof documents were provided.
  • TOEFL 550, IELTS 5.5 or Pass university’s entrance examination.

How to Apply:

  • Step 1 – Apply directly to your target university.
  • Step 2 -Complete the online application procedure at CGS Information System? Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org and click “Application Online” to log in?, submit online the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, and print a hard copy. Please consult your target university for the Instructions of the CGS Information System and Agency Number.
  • Step 3 – Submit all your application documents to your target university before the deadline.
  • NOTE: Only applications of recommended candidates from designated Chinese universities will be considered by CSC.

Application Deadline: Applicants are required to submit their application documents to the Chinese HEIs between January and early April.
