Eligibility:Students commencing study for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in British History. One will be open to students commencing full-time study, and one to students commencing part-time study. Eligible candidates will be normally resident in the United Kingdom.

Scholarship Description:The full-time Cruttenden Scholarship will provide £1,000 per year over a three-year period. The successful scholar will be guaranteed to have a room in College accommodation. The accommodation is available at the standard rent, and is available for the duration of the holder’s tenure of the scholarship. The part-time scholarship will provide £500 per year over a four-year period, with the possibility of extension beyond this subject to satisfactory progress. The Scholarships are available on the basis of academic merit and are tenable at Kellogg College only. Kellogg is a lively environment in which to pursue doctoral studies in History. Its Fellowship includes a number of University Lecturers whose research and teaching are in fields of British History. Most graduate students working in Local History at Oxford are based at Kellogg, and there are termly seminars in Local History at the College.

Number of awards offered:Two Scholarships are offered.

Duration of award(s):It is applicable for three years for full time and four years for part time.
