Applications are invited for DAAD-KCWong Fellowships for Chinese Scientists to pursue postdoctoral research program. The research fellowship is granted for a minimum period of three months and for a maximum of 12 months.

These research fellowships are designed to give highly qualified Chinese scientists from the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, engineering, agriculture, and medicine the opportunity to carry out research together with German specialists at universities, Fachhochschulen and non-university research institutes in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The DAAD supports over 100,000 German and international student’s and researchers around the globe each year – making it the world’s largest funding organization of its kind. We also promote internationalization efforts at German universities, help developing countries build their own systems of higher education, and support German Studies and German language programs abroad.

Course Level: Fellowships are available to pursue postdoctoral research programme.

Study Subject: Fellowships are designed to give highly qualified Chinese scientists from the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, engineering, agriculture, and medicine the opportunity to carry out research together with German specialists at universities, Fachhochschulen and non-university research institutes in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Scholarship Award: The research fellowship is granted for a minimum period of three months and for a maximum of 12 months. An extension is not possible. The monthly scholarship rate is EUR 2,245 (including a health, accident and liability insurance amounting to EUR 145).

Scholarship can be taken in Beijing China or Bonn, Germany

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

Candidates must be active in research and teaching at the time of application in China; As an academic qualification, the doctorate or a corresponding degree is required. Applicants must have one of the following: Professor, Associate Professor, Research Fellow, Associate Research Fellow or Senior Engineer. The following titles are not accepted: Assistant Professor, Assistant Research Fellow, Lecturer, Engineer, Assistant Engineer or Technician.

Nationality: Chinese applicants are eligible to apply for this fellowship.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have their previous degree.

English Language Requirements: The linguistic requirements are determined by the conditions of the individual project; As a rule, good knowledge of German or English language in spoken and written language as well as basic knowledge of the respective another language will be necessary.

China Scholarships

How to Apply: Complete applications should include:

  • Application form
  • Description of project (in German or English)
  • Invitations from the host institutions, including an agreement to project as described (copies are sufficient)
  • Confirmation from the applicant’s employer of approval of absence abroad and proposed project
  • Certificate of doctorate
  • 2 passport-sized photographs.
  • Address sheet in Chinese Characters Any incomplete application or applications handed in after the deadline cannot be taken into consideration.

The application and accompanying documents will remain with DAAD and copies will be sent to the K.C. Wong Education Foundation. Personal data will be stored in DAAD’s computer files only to the extent necessary for the administration of applications and scholarships and in compliance with the “Federal Data Protection Act.” Applications of unsuccessful candidates will be destroyed after one year.

Application Form

Application Deadline: Application periods are April 30 each year for stays starting between October of the same year and March of the following year, and November 15 for stays starting between April and September of the following year. The DAAD cannot consider incomplete applications.
