Elaine Geering Scholarship in English Literature, 2020

Victoria University is inviting applications for English Literature scholarship available for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only. The scholarship will be available for undertaking Honours, Masters or PhD studies at Victoria University or at an approved overseas institution (for students who have completed their undergraduate studies at Victoria University).

This Scholarship has been established by Lloyd Geering in memory of his wife Elaine Geering. Elaine, who was undertaking a PhD in English Literature at Victoria up until the time of her death in 2001, was particularly interested in Old English and Medieval Literature.

  • Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in Medieval, Old English or New Zealand literature.

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

  • Eligible Countries: Students of New Zealand can apply for this English Literature scholarship.
  • Entrance Requirements: The Scholarship shall be open to:
    • Students undertaking Honours, Masters or PhD studies in Medieval, Old English, or New Zealand literature at Victoria University, including students transferring from other universities; or
    • Students who have completed their undergraduate studies at Victoria University and are enrolled in postgraduate study of Medieval, Old English, or New Zealand literature at an approved overseas institution.
