Eligibility: Any current high school senior who has played in a program affiliated with Elite Soccer for at least 3 of the last 5 years, and who will attend college next school year. OR, a current college student who played for Elite Soccer for at least 3 years who will continue to attend college next school year. the program winners must stay in school for at least one full academic year. Failure to meet this requirement will forfeit their right to the program and the individual will be required to return the funds to ESCO if this requirement is not met. An applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA based on a 4.0 scale. No applicant will be disqualified because of sex, race, color, creed or religious beliefs.

Description: The ESCO scholarship committee shall consist of at least three members of ESCO’s Board of Directors, including the ESCO Executive Director. Relatives of a candidate cannot participate in the approval process. The ESCO Executive Director, as the administrator of the program, receives the applications, logs them in for tracking purposes and removes any identification on the application to make the candidate anonymous to the committee. the program committee shall then review all applications and make their recommendations to the ESCO Board of Directors with consideration of the factors outlined in this policy as well as available funding who will then make the final approval vote.

What does it cover? The award amounts will be granted to each winner in equal amounts. Dollar amounts will be determined annually based on funding available. Awards will be made payable to the winners’ college directly.
Selection Criteria: The financial aid positions will be awarded to current or former soccer players who are also outstanding citizens. Awards will be primarily based upon the candidates possessing the following criteria: (1) citizenship, leadership, good sportsmanship and have participated activities that demonstrate a true role model in the community, (2) a demonstrated love and passion for the game of soccer throughout the candidate’s participation career. Also included in the criteria will be an individual’s academic/scholastic and associated honors as well as any outside (non-school related) honors.
Notification: Awards will be presented at the annual ESCO golf outing, which is scheduled for Friday, July 18, 2014 at Old Orchard Country Club.
How to Apply: Along with their application, all applicants shall submit an essay, no longer than one page in length, in which the applicant describes how soccer and his/her soccer experiences in a program affiliated with Elite Soccer has influenced him/her to become a better member of the community. Should a candidate have significant financial need, it should be addressed in the essay portion of the application. All information must be truthful and accurate.
