Erasmus Mundus Scholarships are made available for both European and non-European students. Scholarships are available for pursuing MSc in the area of Mathematical Modelling (MathMods).

Mathematical modelling lies at the heart of most current technological innovations and has become a fundamental tool in many fields of engineering. Essentially multidisciplinary in its applications, mathematical modelling and simulation are in its own right a key technology which is bound to increase its presence within efficient industries and business innovation departments.

MathMods is a two-year (120 ECTS) Joint Master of Science (MSc) degree programme run by 5 European universities, which aim to provide students with a cross-cultural education while they get acquainted with both theory and applications of mathematical modelling in engineering.

Brief Description

  • Course Level: Scholarships are awarded for pursuing 2-year Joint Master Degree programme between 5 EU universities: University of L’Aquila in Italy (UAQ) and involving other four leading institutions in Europe: Autonomous University of Barcelona in Catalonia (UAB), University of Hamburg in Germany (UHH), Gdansk University of Technology in Poland (GUT) and University of Nice – Sophia Antipolis in France (UNSA).
  • Study Subject(s): Selected applicants will join a European MSc in mathematical modelling (methods).
  • Scholarship can be taken in Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland and France
  • Scholarship Award: These scholarships amount to a maximum of EUR 47,000.00 to cover the two-year expenses (tuition, health insurance, accommodation, travel costs…) and are granted to the most promising applicants.

Eligibility: 

  • Applicants must have obtained a recognized Bachelor’s Degree (BS, BSc, SB, etc.) or a degree at the level of a Bachelor’s Degree, for instance it’s equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of high standing, or 180 ECTS credits in the European system in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering with a large background in Mathematics.
  • Students in the final year of their undergraduate study can be admitted on condition that their Bachelor’s degree is awarded before the enrolment in the MathMods MSc, namely before 15 August 2017.

Nationality: Non-European and European students can apply for these Erasmus Mundus MSc Scholarships.

  • How to Apply: All eligible candidates can apply through the Online Application    
  • Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have obtained a recognized Bachelor’s Degree.
  • English Language Requirement: All applicants whose native language is not English are required to prove a satisfactory level of spoken and written English, certified by any of the following
  •  TOEFL: minimum 550 for PBT / 213 for CBT / 80 for IBT. You may submit your TOEFL certificate simply as an electronic copy (.pdf) if you have one, or you may send it directly through ETS: score recipient code is 3676, Institution: University of L’Aquila
  •  IELTS: 6.0 points
  •  CAE
  •  Or any other certificate equivalent to the above (C1 according to CEFR, advanced level).
  • All applicants whose native language is not English are required to prove a satisfactory level of spoken and written English, certified by TOEFL (550 points), IELTS (6.0 points) or equivalent.
