Scholarship Description: 

  • Application Deadline: 4 March 2019
  • Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue PhD programme.
  • Study Subject: This scholarship offers an opportunity to undertake research in the history of the University.
  • Scholarship Award: Fully-funded PhD scholarship:
    Up to £20,353 per year will be awarded. If you are awarded a fully-funded PhD scholarship, you could receive:
    Annual fees: £4,300
    A contribution towards running costs: £1,500 per year
    An annual stipend: £14,553
    Fees-only scholarship:
    Up to £3,845.A fees-only scholarship will cover the costs of your fees. There are a limited number of scholarships available.
  • Nationality: UK/EU students are eligible
  • Number of Scholarships: Liverpool John Moores University is offering up to three full-time PhD Studentships to start in September 2018 or January 2019.
  • Scholarship can be taken in the UK

Eligibility for the Scholarship: 

  • Eligible Countries: UK/EU students are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • Entrance Requirements: To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following requirements:
    Fully-funded PhD scholarship:
    Applications are judged on:
    The calibre of the candidate and their academic qualifications (minimum 2:1 or First Class Honours degree and/or Masters qualification)
    We will not accept applications without an identified student
    The quality of the research project and how it connects with research currently being undertaken at LJMU
    Whether the research can contribute towards the Research Excellence Framework (REF); interdisciplinary research will be weighted highly. Please see the HEFCE website for more information about REF2021
    Am I eligible?
    Full-time, UK and EU PhD applicants from any discipline are eligible to apply.
    Scholarship PhD studentships must be filled by the September of the academic year you plan to begin your PhD.
    International and part-time students and those completing Professional Doctorates are not eligible for support under this scheme.
    Supervisors must be L/SL status or above. Postdoctoral researchers or research assistants are not eligible to be supervisors.

    You must be able to demonstrate you can support yourself financially over the period of three years full-time study

How to Apply: To apply you should send the following to Prof Julie Sheldon [email protected]. A 1,000-word statement outlining your proposed PhD research, and any relevant experience in the field. 2. Your CV (maximum two pages) indicating the names of two academic referees.

In order to be considered for a PhD scholarship, you must submit your application by 9am on Monday 4 March 2019.
