Government of Bangladesh Announce Admission for Foreign Students, 2016

Health services of the ministry of health and family welfare of Bangladesh is announcing admissions of 203 foreign students in government medical and dental college for academic year 2015-2016.The university offers total 203 seats of foreign students out of which 102 seats are for SAARC countries students and 101 seats for non-SAARC countries students. The SAARC countries are as follows: India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives, and Afghanistan. Deadlines for receiving applications at Bangladesh admission abroad for admission are 5 November 2015 for government medical and dental colleges, and 20 November 2015 for private medical and dental college.

Out of 102 seats for SAARC countries  India have 22 MBBS  and 2 BDS seats ; Pakistan have 21 MBBS and 2 BDS ; Nepal have 19 MBBS and 3 BDS ; Sri Lanka have 13 MBBS and 2 BDS ; Bhutan have 5 MBBS and 2 BDS; Maldives have 6 MBBS and 1 BDS whereas Afghanistan have 3 MBBS and 1 BDS. And for non-SAARC countries 74 MBBS seats (will be allocated on the basis of a combined merit list for all countries of the world except SAARC countries and 5 seats allocated for Myanmar)and 22 BDS seats (will be allocated o the basis of a combined merit list for all countries of the world except the SAARC countries).

The ministry has further the hounour to state that 89 seats in the government MBBS program and 13 seats in the government BDS program are reserved for the candidates from SAARC countries, while 79 seats in government MBBS program (5 seats allotted for Myanmar) and 22 seats in the government BDS program are for the candidates for non –SAARC countries.

Criteria of application for foreign students in Government College
a) equivalence of foreign degree:
-must have passed qualifying examination (HSC/ ‘A’ level) or equivalent examination.
-SSC/ ‘O’ level or equivalent examination passed not before 2012
-HSC/ ‘A’ level or equivalent examination passed not before 2014
-minimum aggregate GPA in SSC / ‘O’ level or equivalent and HSC / ‘A’ level and equivalent examination: 3.5
-minimum GPA in biology: 3.5
-for calculation of GPA against the marks obtain in SSC/ ‘O’ level or equivalent exam, only top 5 subjects are consider. Therefore, GPA in ‘O’ level =(total marks obtain in top five subjects)/5.
-For calculation of GPA against the marks obtain in HSC/ ‘A’ level or equivalent exam, only 3 subjects (physics, chemistry and biology) are consider. Qualification grade in each subject individually is ‘C’. Therefore, GPA in ‘A’ level+ (total marks obtain in three subjects.

  1. b) Tuition fees: For the government medical and dental colleges, students from SAARC countries will required to pay tuition and other fess at the rate charge to Bangladeshi students. Students from other countries will have to pay $5000 per academic year in addition to tuition fees charged to Bangladeshi students.

a) equivalence of foreign degree:
-must have passed qualifying examination (HSC/ ‘A’ level) or equivalent examination.
-SSC/ ‘O’ level or equivalent examination passed not before 2012
-HSC/ ‘A’ level or equivalent examination passed not before 2014
-minimum aggregate GPA in SSC/ ‘ O ‘ level o equivalent and in HSC/ ‘A’ level or equivalent examination:7.00
-minimum aggregate GPA in SSC / ‘O’ level or equivalent and HSC / ‘A’ level and equivalent examination: 3.0
-minimum GPA in biology: 3.5
-for calculation of GPA against the marks obtain in SSC/ ‘O’ level or equivalent exam, only top 5 subjects are consider. Therefore, GPA in ‘O’ level = (total marks obtain in top five subjects)/5.
-For calculation of GPA against the marks obtain in HSC/ ‘A’ level or equivalent exam, only 3 subjects (physics, chemistry and biology) are consider. Qualification grade in each subject individually is ‘C’. Therefore, GPA in ‘A’ level+ (total marks obtain in three subjects.

  1. b) Tuition fees: Information regarding tuition fees charged by private medical/dental college can be obtained directly from the college concerned.

Applicants with aggregate GPA less than 8.0 for government medical college and GPA less than 7.0 for private medical college will not be considered for admission.

The merit list prepared by the committee in Bangladesh will be considered final.

-MOFA will accept application only through Bangladesh mission aboard or through the embassies/high commission in Bangladesh

Applications form with necessary academic documents should reach the ministry of foreign affairs by 10 November 2015 and 25 November 2015 for government and private medical college respectively
