Applications are invited for HDR Scholarship in Engineering for a research project on Reconfigurable Antennas for Wireless Communications) at Macquarie University. Scholarship will be available for Research Training Pathway (RTP) MRes (Year 2) program followed by a possible Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) for PhD (a MRes/PhD ‘bundle offer’) or Direct entry to a 3-year PhD program. Scholarship is awarded for up to four years (one year for MRes and three years for PhD). The application deadline is 31st July, 2014.

Eligibility: To be eligible for a PhD scholarship applicants are expected to have a record of excellent academic performance, especially in the research Masters degree and additional relevant research experience and/or peer-reviewed research activity, awards and/or prizes in line with the University’s scholarship rating guidelines.

Scholarship Description: Macquarie UniversityNovel reconfigurable antennas will be conceived, designed, fabricated and tested for emerging wireless communication applications. Some will have reconfigurable steerable beams. Other applications include Dynamic Spectrum Sharing in future 5G telecommunication networks. This research is conducted under the Macquarie University Concentration of Research Excellence in Wireless Communications and has been awarded significant funding from external bodies. The scholar is expected to conduct research closely with the group leader and postdoctoral fellows and publish research results in leading international journals and conferences. This scholarship is available for both domestic and international students for up to four years (one year for MRes and three years for PhD).

What does it cover? 
-The MRES Year 2 full-time stipend rate is $16,000 pa tax free for 1 year, plus (for eligible MRES students)
-The MQRES full-time stipend rate is $25,392 pa (in 2014) tax exempt for 3 years (indexed annually).

How to Apply: Applicants will need to complete a candidature/scholarship application form and arrange for two academic referee reports to be submitted to the Higher Degree Research Office. Refer to the Applications page for further application instructions. Macquarie University will advise the successful applicant of entitlements at the time of scholarship offer.
