Chemistry Tercentenary International PhD Scholarships at University of Edinburgh

The University of Edinburgh is inviting applications for international PhD scholarships. A minimum of ten scholarships will be available in session 2019-2020. The scholarships, each worth £5,000 pa, will be offered for a period of three years.

The Tercentenary International Scholarships Scheme helps outstanding research students from outside the United Kingdom and European Community to study in the School of Chemistry by providing for some of the costs of their training and supervision.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from all around the world are eligible to apply for scholarships.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Scholarships are provided within the School of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh.
  • Admissible Criteria:  The studentships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit with candidates requiring the equivalent of a first-class honours degree or upper second-class honours degree from a recognised university or institution.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Applicants should apply online through EUCLID for PhD admission to the University of Edinburgh. Applicants must also notify the School of Chemistry by emailing notification of their intention to apply for a Tercentenary International PhD Scholarship.
  • Supporting Documents: In this email, applicants should give full details of their EUCLID application, nominate up to four supervisors and include a description of their preferred areas of research.
  • Language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Benefits

Each scholarship will have a value of £5,000 per annum and will be deducted from your tuition fees and will be tenable for three years. These awards cannot be held concurrently with any other fully-funded scholarship.  They can, however, be combined with other partial funding (up to £8,000).
