The Global Marina Institute (GMI) has very proudly announce­­d two international awards for this year for the Advanced Marina Management (AMM) courses in Australia and the UK.

The AMM course­­­ is believed to be the most significant training course for the Marina managers and it is certainly one of the key prerequisites to get certified in the marine industry.

It has been notified that the recipient of the British Marine Federation (BMF) MarineTek International support will travel to Australia to participate in the Marine Industries Association (MIA) AMM course in Sydney from 14 – 19 September 2014.

The recipient of the MIA Bellingham International support will travel to UK to participate in the AMM course from 26 – 31 October 2014 on the South Coast of England.

According to the GMI Chairman, Mick Bettesworth, these international awards show that the vitality of education is recognizedglobal-marine-institute.jpeg within the global marine industry. The financial aid positions will bring forth marina managers with high competence and skill that is valued in the industry. The grants also encourage a smooth distribution of knowledge across the globe. Further, these financial aid positions will ensure a two way benefit; on one hand the recipients will bring a new and different perspective to the course and on the other hand will take back the valuable knowledge and novel ideas etc.

Michael Glanville, MDL Area Manager in the UK was heard commenting on being awarded the Bellingham Marine Scholarship as a once in a lifetime opportunity and he has also marked it as a brilliant experience both personally and professionally. He has been the 2011 scholarship winner.

He further quotes that he would highly recommend that Marina Managers looking to develop their knowledge and skills attend an Advanced Marina Managers course.

Winners of the respective financial aid positions will be announced at the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference, 2-4 June in Istanbul, Turkey. Application forms for the BMF scholarship and the Bellingham Marine Scholarship are available online on the GMI website.
