The University of California, Santa Cruz is looking for students to build independent digital research projects to participate in its International Undergraduate Digital Scholarships Program. There are up to 6 awards available for the academic year 2022-2023.

The fellowship program is open to participation from all international and home country national undergraduate students who have undertaken their study at UCSC to engage with Digital Humanities studies.

Eligibility

• Eligible Countries: American and overseas students are both eligible to apply. 
• Eligible Course or Subjects: The applicants can apply for an undergraduate degree program offered at the University of California, Santa Cruz. 
• Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
• The applicants should be prepared to commit to up to four 1–hour workshops during the Winter Quarter and to regular meetings with mentors throughout the Winter and Spring Quarters. 
• The applicants should have a general familiarity with web technologies. 
• The applicants should be prepared to present at the Digital Research Symposium, typically scheduled at the end of the Spring Quarter.

• How to Apply: Admission applications can be made via the university’s official portal. To completely submit their fellowship application, students must fill the recommendation form and faculty sponsor form. 
• Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
• A project title
• Be prepared to briefly describe your project and the goals you have for it
• Identify specific digital skill/s you plan to use in the project
• Describe a relevant experience you have related to the project
• Describe how you anticipate utilizing the $500 award
• The name of a faculty sponsor
• Admission Requirements: The applicants must complete a minimum of 15 college-preparatory courses (“a-g” courses), with at least 11 finished prior to the beginning of their senior year with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or better. 
• Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests: 
• TOEFL IBT – 80
• IELTS – 6.5 
• Duolingo English Test (DET) – 115

• Methodological training combining critical theory, critical making, and creativity
• Digital skill-building around text analysis, visualization, 3D Animation, Mapping, etc. as needed in order to enable fellows to build a research project of their unique design
• Ongoing mentorship to support project development by a Digital Scholarship Librarian
