The University of Oslo is pleased to offer ISS scholarships to international students of high academic ability for 2020-21 entry. Scholarships are awarded to undertake a six weeks summer school.

UiO was founded in 1811 as the first university in Norway. With five Nobel Prize winners, UiO has a strong track record of pioneering research and scientific discovery.

Applicants who are not native speakers of English must document their proficiency in English by taking one of the internationally recognised tests (IELTS, TOEFL and Pearson ).

Eligibility:

To be a successful ISS scholarship recipient, you must demonstrate:

  • That you meet the academic requirements
  • A strong academic record
  • The relevance of your academic and/or professional background to the course you apply for in your statement of purpose

Nationality: Citizens of Asia, Oceania, Africa, Central America and South America, Caucasus and Balkans, Former Soviet Union states, EU and EEA countries, USA and Canada can apply for these ISS scholarships.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Students should apply online as a scholarship applicant, and remember to complete and upload their scholarship form with their application.  
  • Supporting Material: All applicants must upload scanned copies of their supporting documents into the Application Portal, the University of Oslo’s online application system. Documents to be uploaded:
  • Copy of passport
  • Documentation of English language proficiency
  • Copies of transcripts/diplomas
  • Statement of purpose
  • Letter of recommendation
  • ISS scholarship form
  • CV/resume
  • Norwegian documentation, for applicants to Norwegian language courses, levels 2-4
  • Entrance Requirement: The ISS offers scholarships to applicants from certain countries. Competition for these scholarships is high and funds are limited, so the majority of scholarships awarded are partial scholarships.
  • English Language Requirements: Applicants who are not native speakers of English must document their proficiency in English by taking one of the internationally recognised tests (IELTS, TOEFL and Pearson ).

Benefits

  • An Off-Campus scholarship covers all basic fees which include extracurricular activities, health insurance, one-weekend excursion outside Oslo, public transportation (public transportation card within Oslo not applicable to UiO program students), card within Oslo and reading materials.
  • An On-Campus scholarship covers all the basic fees mentioned above. In addition, it includes simple accommodation in a double room at Blindern Dormitory and board according to the dormitory meal plans.
