The NAM S&T Centre is inviting applications for joint CSIR/CFTRI Diamond Jubilee fellowship for 2013/14 academic year. Fellowships are awarded to the researchers from the developing countries to undertake training, upgrade research skills and conduct joint research in various fields of Food Science & Technology. Four fellowships are available for a maximum duration of six months. The main criteria of selection will be the applicant’s academic credentials & professional expertise as well as proposed research programme. The application deadline is September 24, 2013.

Eligibility:
-Researchers having academic qualification of at least M.Sc. or equivalent and engaged in research and development in Food Science and Technology. Candidates possessing doctoral degree would be preferred.
-The upper age limit is 40 years.
-The Fellowship is open to scientists and researchers from any developing country. Only one person from each country will be considered each year for the Fellowship Award on a competitive basis and merit.
-The Applicants should be employed with academic Universities or research Institutions or Governmental bodies with proven research & development programmes.
-Researchers from India are not eligible to apply for the Fellowship.

Scholarship Description: The NAM S&T Centre invites applications for the Joint CSIR / CFTRI (Diamond Jubilee) – NAM S&T Centre Fellowship for the year 2013-2014. The Fellowship scheme initiated by the Centre jointly with the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore, India, a constituent Laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, India aims at providing opportunities to the researchers from the developing countries to affiliate themselves with CSIR-CFTRI to undertake training, upgrade their research skills and conduct joint research in various fields of Food Science & Technology.

Number of award(s): Four fellowships are available for year 2013-2014 under this Fellowship scheme.

Duration of award(s): Fellowships are awarded for a maximum duration of six months.

What does it cover?  The Fellowship scheme provides attractive financial assistance, under which CSIR-CFTRI would provide free single accommodation in Mysore, India and a subsistence allowance of US$300 (in equivalent Indian Rupees) per month to the selected researchers to cover incidentals and other day-to-day expenses (including food & others) during the tenure of the Fellowship. The NAM S&T Centre will pay the return international airfare from the home country to Bangalore (140 km from Mysore), India to the scientists selected from those member countries and S&T-Industry Network members, which have no outstanding dues towards the annual membership subscription. The applications from the non-paying member countries and non-paying S&T-Industry Network members of the NAM S&T Centre and other non-member developing countries will also be considered, but in such cases, the international airfare will have to be arranged by the selected scientists, who will also be required to pay a processing fee of US$500 to the NAM S&T Centre in advance to meet a part of its administrative expenditure.

Selection Criteria: Selection is made for the Fellowship on a competitive basis based on the applicant’s academic and professional background, proposed Plan of Work and mutual research interests of the applicant and CSIR-CFTRI.

How to Apply: Completed application forms with a proposed research plan may be electronically submitted to the NAM S&T Centre [NOT to CSIR-CFTRI]. Hard copies of the applications by post/courier/fax are not required. All applicants are required to seek administrative clearance from their respective employer organizations and those eligible for the international fare from the NAM S&T Centre are further required to seek endorsement of the Focal Points of the NAM S&T Centre in their respective countries
