Eligibility

Eligible Countries: Tanzania students can apply for this scholarship.
Acceptable Course or Subjects: The sponsorship will be awarded in any undergraduate degree offered by the university.
Admissible Criteria: Applicants must be meeting the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 15-17 by the start of program (August 1, 2020).
  • Students must be enrolled as a Form 2 student in a secondary school in the region currently being recruited at the time of application.
  • Short listed students must pass their Form 2 National Exams and hold either position one (1) or two (2) in their class. (The greatest emphasis on the pass mark is on English and Mathematics, which should be at least 60%).
  • Holders must present academic transcripts from Form 1 through the first term of Form 3 (all academic transcripts must have the Headmaster’s signature and the school stamp).
  • Applicants must have the equivalent of a B average or better without failing grades.
  • Students have to meet U.S. J-1 visa eligibility requirements (for instance, U.S. citizens are not eligible for J-1 visa).
  • Candidates must be a citizen of Tanzania.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: There are multiple rounds to the YES application and selection process. All applicants are required to take an English proficiency exam, write a proctored essay, complete a YES program application, and participate in group and individual in-person interviews. All finalists are selected on the basis of merit.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a good command of the English language for the scholarship.
  • Benefits: The study program will provide a education fund for their students.
