Dr.Manmohan Singh Scholarship: British Council Invites Applications for 2014 Semester

British Council has encouraged applicants to send their applications as it has collaborated with Dr. Manmohan Singh Scholarships for the coming 2014 semester.

The scholarships are associated with University of Cambridge, UK at the St John’s College. The applications are due to be submitted till the 15th January 2014.

Dr Manmohan Singh, a man who needs no introduction is a graduate and Honary fellow of St John’s College. A scholarship program under his name has been decided to enable Indian deserving students who are aspiring for a doctorate degree programs in the field of science and technology, economics and sociology.

The college is inviting the cream of students from India who fall under the eligible criteria’s of the scholarship. The form for the same can be downloaded from British Council’s official website.

The scholarship promises to take the initiative of handling the student’s fees, airfare and a monthly stipend including the UK visa charges. This seems to be a very attractive offer for the Indian students and more interest has been shown for applicants interested in Aerospace Engineering and Energy Studies. British Council has come forward and stepped in the shoes of taking initiative in order to help the students with the program.

The applicants must be Indian citizen and should be below 35 years of age and definitely possess a valid passport in respect to apply for the scholarship.

A master’s degree from relevant college or university is also a requirement which needs to be met with the criteria of acquiring first class marks awarded in the applied field.

Board of Graduate studies website is equipped with all the relevant information which is required by the candidate to complete the formalities of the application.

The applicants should select St John’s College as a first choice and then they need to specify that they are applying for the Dr Manmohan Singh scholarship program. Besides this the applicants must also confirm the section which indicates funding required from the University.

British Council will initiate a pre screening of the candidates through the medium of personal interviews on selected applications and thus the results of the successful candidates will be intimated to them in a month’s time.

Selected candidates for the scholarship will also be assisted with briefings related to visa and other travelling information. Applicants are discouraged to get in direct touch with the St John’s College and are hence advised to stay in touch with British Council for the same.
