Eligibility

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for the researched program. For the current round of applications, be advised that the Institute is currently involved in research in the following areas:

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria. The following applicants will be considered:
  • Foreign doctoral candidates,
  • Postdocs
  • Scientists with their research profile whose doctorate was completed less than 12 years ago and who holds a position as assistant professor or Junior Research Group Leader or who can demonstrate several years of independent scientific work
  • W3 professors and full professors, Directors or Institute Managers
  • The applicant’s research must correspond to the academic interests of the Institute.

  • How to Apply: Application for a scholarship is made through an Online-Portal.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants are required to submit the following documents (Submitted documents should be in German or English. In exceptional cases documents in French may also be accepted.):
  • Statement of Purpose: maximum of one page
  • Curriculum Vitae: an up-to-date CV
  • Research Proposal: maximum of two pages
  • Updated List of Publications
  • Letters of Recommendation: upload them online or send them via email to [email protected].
  • Proof of Doctoral Degree
  • Admission Requirements: Before starting an application, applicants must download a checklist that will help them in their preparations.
  • Health insurance is compulsory for a stay in Germany.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants are not required to speak German to obtain a scholarship.
  • However; applicants have a level of proficiency in German, English or French that will enable them to integrate into the Institute community. Applicants must also be proficient in the language required for their research, or clarify how they intend to obtain information from foreign language sources on their target jurisdictions.
