The Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic is the state administration of the Slovak Republic for elementary, secondary, and higher education, educational facilities, lifelong learning, science, and the state’s help for sports and youth.

Why should you be a part of this Scholarship? The Ministry operates schools and school structures in the region of the Slovak Republic via normally binding regulations; by supplying vocational direction to all creators, it administers the network of schools and school structures in the Slovak Republic. Though regional school controls, it delivers the completion of the state administration. The competencies of the Ministry are set out by law.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Candidates from the Belgium-French Community, Walloon region, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Kazakhstan, the Republic of North Macedonia, the Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, and Ukraine are eligible to apply.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to a Bachelor, Master, and PhD degree in any subject offered by the university
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • The scholarship is usually designed for study stays of students (bachelor/master level) and or research stays of PhD students. The length of the scholarship (usually 1 to 10 months) and the categories of eligible recipients (students on bachelor/master level/researchers/ teachers /PhD students) depend upon the agreement concerned.
  • The scholarship cannot be awarded for a complete course of study leading to a degree.
  • If not specified otherwise, the stays shall occur before 15 September 2023 and not later than 30 August 2024.
  • The Ministry reserves the right to change the requested term of the scholarship and place any applicant to a course and higher education institution different from those indicated in their scholarship application form if admission, as requested by the applicant, is not feasible.
  • The scholarship can only be used within the implementation period. It cannot be postponed to the following academic year.
  • The details about scholarship types, quotas for 2023/2024, and application deadlines are in the table of allocations enclosed with this call. Coverage and financial responsibilities of agreement parties are specified in the agreements directly.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Students can follow the admission procedure of their respective universities. However, students must download the application form after they post the application form to this Postal address: Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, Stromová 1, 813 30 Bratislava, Slovak Republic.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents:
  • Structured curriculum vitae,
  • Motivation letter
  • Detailed study, teaching, or research program proposal,
  • Invitation letter or letter of acceptance from the host institution (if applicable)
  • Copy of the passport
  • recommendation letter
  • Transcript of study records
  • In the case of PhD students, university teachers, and researchers: list of own publications related to the research program of the stay,
  • Copy of PhD diploma or its equivalent
  • Photo in size 3, 5 cm x 4 cm (passport style photo) attached to each the original and the copy of the application form.
  • Admission Requirements: All applicants must have a previous degree.
  • Language Requirement: The students must be proficient in English language proficiency.

Benefits

Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic will provide all the following:

  • For students (bachelor/master level): 400 € per month (from February 2022; instead of 280 €).
  • For PhD students: 734 € per month (from February 2022; instead of 330 €).
  • For university teachers or researchers (without title PhD. or equivalent): 734 € per month (from February 2022; instead of 550 €).
  • For university teachers or researchers (with title PhD. or equivalent): 1015 € per month (from February 2022; instead of 550 €).
