The University of Nebraska has three colleges which offer 170 majors and 20 pre-professional programs. It is a 4-year public college established in 1905 as the Nebraska State Normal School at Kearney.

Eligibility

To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria of each scholarship:

Multicultural Community Service Scholarship

  • Applicants must be an incoming freshmen students
  • Recipients will be selected primarily basis on leadership in the multicultural community through participation in school and community activities.

Maestros del Futuro: Bilingual Educators Scholarship

  • Students who demonstrate a genuine commitment to becoming a teacher.
  • Recipients will be selected primarily basis on academic potential, commitment to pursuing a career in the teaching profession and fluency in Spanish.

ODI Leadership Scholarship

  • All upperclassman who have obtained a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and are actively involved with student organizations hosted by the Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion.

The Susan Thompson Buffet Foundation Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Nebraska (NE)
  • Graduate from a Nebraska high school or earn a Nebraska GED with plans to attend a Nebraska public college (NE Community Colleges, NE State College System, and University of NE System)
  • First-time freshman entering college who are residents of Nebraska,
  • Students must need financial assistance to attend college.
  • Achieve at least a 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA in high school (2.5 on a 4 point scale and 83 on a 100 point scale)

Davis-Chambers Scholarship

  • Promising students from diverse backgrounds who often find that the financial requirements of postsecondary education are a major obstacle.
  • Qualified applicants must be Nebraska residents who have graduated from a Nebraska high school.
  • Applicants must admit to UNK

Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP)

  • Students from rural Nebraska who are committed to returning to rural Nebraska to practise healthcare.
  • KHOP program also seeks to increase diversity in the healthcare workforce by considering the following factors during the selection process: economic disadvantage, whether the student is a first-generation college student, active involvement in communities and neighbourhoods where opportunities are diminished, and proficiency in languages spoken in underserved communities with healthcare needs.
  • Applicants should have strong academic potential, as well as exposure to health professions

ODI Alumni Inspired Scholarship/Fellowship Fund

  • Current UNK students who show strong potential and have high financial need.

The University of Nebraska at Kearney is offering multiple awards as the following:

  • Multicultural Community Service Scholarship (MCSS): Recipients will receive a full-tuition waiver up to 15 credit hours per semester, and it is renewable for up to eight regular semesters and two summer terms.
  • Maestros del Futuro: Bilingual Educators Scholarship: Cost of room and board for four years
  • ODI Leadership Scholarship: Varies
  • The Susan Thompson Buffet Foundation Scholarship: Award to cover expenses related to attending college (e.g. tuition and fees, housing, books). The amount varies by institution but is typically equal to the average cost of tuition and fees for a full-time student (15 credits) at that institution.
  • Davis-Chambers Scholarship: $2,000 to $4,000 per year
  • Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP): Full tuition and guaranteed admission to the health science program of their choice at UNMC.
  • ODI Alumni Inspired Scholarship/Fellowship Fund: NA
