Eligibility:
-The scholarships will be awarded to students who are accepted for admission on to the online distance learning MSc in Primary Care Ophthalmology at the University of Edinburgh. Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer or be intending to do so.
-Applicants must be optometrists registered with the General Optical Council and be working in the Scottish NHS, either as a community or hospital optometrist, and be resident in Scotland.

Scholarship Description: NHS Education for Scotland’s (NES) Optometry Directorate will award up to twenty Master’s scholarships for the MSc in Primary Care Ophthalmology online distance learning programme delivered by the University of Edinburgh in the academic session 2015-2016. The scholarship will have a total value of 50% of course fees which will be deducted from the annual tuition fee for the part-time MSc programme of study.

Selection Criteria: The scholarship will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit and evidence of a commitment to a career in primary care optometry/ophthalmology. Candidates must have a minimum of a UK 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level or the international equivalent. Award holders will be required by NES to commit to attending a number of NES-funded Optometry Teach and Treat Clinics in each year of study and these will be undertaken in their own time and at their own expense.

Notification: A Selection Committee (including the Programme Directors of NES Optometry) will meet in August 2015 to select the scholarship holders. The winners of the scholarship will be announced shortly thereafter.

How to Apply: Eligible applicants should complete an online scholarship application. To apply for a scholarship you must first apply for admission for an eligible programme of study at the University of Edinburgh. Once you have applied for admission you will receive your University Username (UUN). Your UUN is the letter ‘s’ followed by your matriculation number; for example, s0987654. Only applicants who have received an offer of admission (conditional or unconditional) on the closing date of the scholarship are likely to be considered by the panel. Eligible applicants should complete an online scholarship application.
