Netherlands Scholarship for Students

Holland  formally known as Netherlands which is described as gateway to Europe is the first non native English speaking country in Europe. It offers courses in English for international students and in Dutch language for local students.Because of the financial support of the Government the tuition fee and the other expenses in Netherlands is relatively low as compared to the USA and other European countries.
The Dutch higher education is very interactive and emphasize on team work. Netherlands  inhabitants mostly converse in English which is ideal for international students. The education in Netherlands is mainly recognized by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. The degree of Netherlands is internationally recognized. The higher education in Netherlands consists of Bachelors, Masters and PhD levels.

There are various scholarships which are sponsored by government of Netherlands. The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) which is funded by Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers fellowship to mid-career professionals from 61 countries. Beneath are some of the scholarships which are for Dutch students and for international students to study at Netherlands and abroad. Follow the list below to access the scholarships presently available to study in Netherlands.

Scholarship Program: Mena Scholarship Programme
Employer: Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Level of study: Mid-career professional
Brief Scholarship Description: The Middle East and North Africa Scholarship Programme (MENA Scholarship Programme) is initiated and fully funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The MENA Scholarship Programme was set up in 2007 as a result of the growing interest in both the Arab world and the Netherlands to strengthen mutual ties in the areas of education, culture and trade. The programme enables mid career professionals from Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Syria and Tunisia to do a short course in the Netherlands. Each year there are around 120 scholarships available, which are proportionally distributed among the participating countries. Ideally, half of the scholarships are allocated to female applicants.

Scholarship Program: Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP)

Brief Scholarship Description: The NFP is targeted at mid-career professionals who are nationals of and working and living in one of the 60 NFP countries (see annex4 for an overview). Candidates from Sub-Saharan Africa, women and members of priority groups and/or marginalised regions are specifically invited to apply for an NFP fellowship. This because 50% of the available fellowships will be awarded to females and 50% of the available budget will be awarded to candidates from Sub-Saharan Africa. Beside this, candidates from priority groups and/or marginalised regions (to be defined by the embassies) are explicitly invited to apply.

Scholarship Program: SPE Netherlands Scholarship

Brief Scholarship Description: The purpose of our scholarship program is to attract high caliber students into the Oil & Gas Industry. Scholarship Program: MTEC Scholarship Programme

Brief Scholarship Description: Matra for European/Public Cooperation (MES) has been developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support the transition from totalitarianism to pluriform democracies in Central and Eastern Europe. Netherlands with the respected countries at government level. The programme Matra Training for European Cooperation (MTEC) is one of the instruments of the MES programme. The MTEC programme is being executed by the unit CROSS, which is part of the EVD, the Agency for International Business and Cooperation of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Scholarship Program: Orange Tulip Scholarship
Employer: Dutch higher education institutions; and Dutch and Mexican companies in Mexico
Level of study: Higher education program in the Netherlands
Brief Scholarship Description: Scholarships offered by Dutch higher education institutions consist of full or partial tuition waivers and if desirable, a set amount for living expenses or travelling costs. The minimum value of the scholarship is €3,000. Company-sponsored scholarships consist of cash for living expenses and travelling costs, with a minimum value of € 3,000. Winners can claim 75% of the total scholarship amount in the month prior to their departure to The Netherlands. Maximum two years after finishing their studies in The Netherlands, the winner may submit their graduation diploma and thesis with the company to claim the remaining 25% of the scholarship.

Scholarship Program: Maastricht University High Potential Scholarship

Brief Scholarship Description: Scholarships for encouraging talented students from outside the European Economic Area to follow a master’s programme at Maastricht University (UM).  Applicant has been accepted to a UM degree programme and may be no older than 35 years at the start of the academic year (1 September 2008)Applicant meets the criteria for obtaining a residence permit.

Scholarship Program: StuNed – Studeren in Nederland – Scholarship Programme

Brief Scholarship Description: StuNed is a scholarship programme focusing on mid-career professionals, as part of the bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the Netherlands. The scholarship programme aims to contribute to the development of Indonesia through strengthening the human resources of Indonesian organisations. The StuNed programme is supporting the Dutch policy for development co-operation with Indonesia and aims to contribute to the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals in 2015. The framework for the bilateral relations between the Netherlands government with Indonesia is laid down in the Multi-Annual Strategic Plan 2008-2011 (MASP).

Scholarship Program: The “Mayflower Scholarship

Level of study: Undergraduate and graduate
Brief Scholarship Description: The “Mayflower Scholarship” may be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students currently registered at Webster Leiden. This competitive scholarship is based upon academic merit and is renewable at the end of the Academic Year if the awardee maintains continuous full-time enrollment at Webster Leiden and meets or exceeds the required cumulative grade point average of 3.5.  Students need to re-apply for renewal. The scholarship award normally covers 15% of tuition costs and may vary per student; if the student is willing to do service hours for the Webster campus the scholarship may be higher. It applies to study at Webster University’s Leiden and Amsterdam campus and online courses only; in some cases the scholarship may transfer to other Webster campuses.

Scholarship Program: Scholarships for (EER-students) to study in Netherlands

Brief Scholarship Description: If you are not eligible for Dutch study finance and you are a national of one of the countries which belong to the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) or you come from Switzerland, you can apply for a loan or a contribution towards the payment of your tuition fees or course fees. There are three possible situations: Are you going to study in the Netherlands and did you not receive a contribution for your tuition fees for studies in the Netherlands in the 2006-2007 academic years.

Scholarship Program: Tilburg University Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Brief Scholarship Description: For the academic year 2012-2013 Tilburg University has 34 scholarships available for excellent international students who are admitted to a Master’s program at Tilburg University (MA, MSc or LLM). Tilburg University Scholarships for Academic Excellence are awarded for one academic year. Candidates applying for one of the Research Master programs will have to apply for the scholarship again for their second year of their Research Master program.

Scholarship Program: IMMIT Scholarships for excellent students

Brief Scholarship Description: The IMMIT consortium has 14 scholarships available for excellent students who are admitted to the IMMIT programme.  The IMMIT Scholarship includes:  A partial tuition fee waiver between  € 500 and  € 2800 (EU or non-EU students) for the first year of the IMMIT programme, depending on financial capacity and academic excellence.A partial tuition fee waiver of € 4098 for non-EU students for the second year of the IMMIT programme, which means that non-EU scholarship holders will pay a tuition fee of € 5872 for the second year of IMMIT.

Brief Scholarship Description: For excellent Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a Leiden University master’s degree programme and for excellent students from all nationalities enrolling in a Master of Law Advanced Programme or MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy. Leiden University advises a budget, not including the tuition fee, of approx. €10,000 to €14,000 per year to cover the costs for rent, insurance, living expenses, course books and local transportation. How much money students actually spend will of course depend on their life style and spending habits.

Scholarship Program: Dutch International Society Scholarship

Level of study: Taking classes in the Dutch language program
Brief Scholarship Description: At the same time DIS is also an international society. It shares many elements of its background, religious beliefs and priorities with Calvin College, which was founded in 1876, also by Dutch immigrants, but which now attracts students and faculty from all over the USA, Canada and many foreign countries. The language and culture of the Netherlands has been consistently taught, studied and highlighted throughout Calvin’s history today as much as ever.
