Internship Description: Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) program is designed to introduce talented students to drug discovery and to train them in experimental work in this area. The Basel Traineeship Program is a paid internship with rolling admissions. Placement is in a variety of laboratory settings for 3-12 months. The intern’s research may focus on therapeutic areas, discovery technologies, molecular pathway investigation, discovery chemistry or models. The interns will work with scientists in the NIBR research groups to support and guide them through data curation and validation processes, curate assay and sample meta data, provide user feedback to the text mining team to enhance the BioAssay-Ontology and expand it to new scientific areas, provide feedback to the software development team for enhancements, bugs, missing features, perform plausibility checks on the software and provide feedback to the software development team, perform rapid prototyping and/or algorithms to refine the requirements and/ or improvements in automated data curation and result type mapping with proper documentation and work closely together with the scientific data curation team.
