The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) Foundation is pleased to announce the United Planet Merit Scholarships to encourage global students for the academic year 2023-2024.

The funding award scheme is open for international students with high academic performance in volunteering abroad and internship abroad in quest countries within 1 to 3 weeks and Long-Term Volunteer Abroad and Internship Abroad Quest (6 months to 1 year). Successful candidates will get one full Scholarship and ten partial scholarships.

  • Eligible Countries: Volunteer Abroad and Internship Abroad Quest Countries within 1 to 3 weeks:
  • Destinations include Chile, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Japan, Nepal, Peru, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Moldova, and Italy.
  • Long-Term Volunteer Abroad and Internship Abroad Quest (6 months to 1 year):
  • Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Peru
  • Asia/Pacific: India, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, South Korea, Vietnam, New Zealand
  • Europe: Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, Moldova
  • Africa: Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa are eligible to apply.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to a high school in any subject offered by the NSHSS Foundation.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • Long-Term Volunteer Abroad and Internship Abroad Quest (6 months to 1 year).
  • Volunteer Abroad and Internship Abroad Quest Countries within 1 to 3 weeks. All Long-Term Programs require travelers to be age 18+ by departure.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Students are required to complete an online application. After that, all students must fill out the Volunteer Quest Easy Enrollment Form will be considered.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants must submit all the following documents:
  • The prompt response of 500 words to the following question:
  • How will your experience living and serving abroad in a different culture inspire and enrich your academic and professional pursuits as an NSHSS scholar? Describe in detail.
  • Color headshot
  • Academic resume
  • Current Transcript (can be official or unofficial)
  • Educator recommendation
  • Parent approval prior to applying (for those under 18).
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must have a previous degree certificate with excellent grades.
  • Language Requirement: Students need to demonstrate that they have a good written and spoken English level.

Benefits

The NSHSS Foundation will provide one full Scholarship and ten partial Scholarships.

  • One full scholarship for any Short-Term Volunteer Abroad and Internship Abroad Quest within 1 to 3 weeks.
  • Five $500 scholarships for any Short-Term or Long-Term Volunteer Abroad and Internship Abroad Quest (1 week to 1 year).
  • Five $250 scholarships for any Virtual Volunteer and Internship Quest (1 month – 6 months).
