The Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy is offering scholarships for pursuing Doctor of Pharmacy program. Scholarships will provide a financial award in the amount of $8,000 annually for four years, totaling $32,000.

The McWhorter School of Pharmacy is an American pharmacy school located in Birmingham, Alabama. The school offers a four-year Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and is nationally accredited by the ACPE.

Eligibility: Scholarships are awarded based on criteria such as, but limited to:

  • Academic excellence
  • Financial need
  • Leadership
  • Areas of pharmacy focus

Nationality: Students from UK are eligible to apply.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: To be considered for admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy program, students must have:

  • Completed between 64 and 67 college semester hours
  • Completed 28 semester hours of basic science
  • Completed all course prerequisites (includes Calculus I, Elementary Statistics, Physical Education Activity or Lifetime Health and Wellness/Fitness, Psychology or Sociology, Additional Liberal Arts, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Public Speaking, English Composition, Literature, and World History/Western Civilization or U.S./American History).
  • Applicants who have earned a bachelor’s degree may use a math/science prerequisite if the date of the pharmacy application is submitted within five years from the posting of the degree (with the exception of Public Speaking, all other pre-requisites are waived if the applicant has completed a B.A./B.S. degree or if a B.A./B.S. degree will be completed prior to starting classes at McWhorter School of Pharmacy). Applicants who have not earned a bachelor’s degree may use a math/science prerequisite if that coursework was completed within five years of the submission of the pharmacy application. For all applicants, there is no time limit on any non-math/science prerequisite coursework. An appeal process is available for math/science prerequisites that fall outside the five-year window of completion.

Test Requirement: ACT or SAT score is required unless you took the ACT more than 12 years ago or if English is not your primary language and you did not attend high school in the United States. For those whom English is not the primary language AND who did not attend high school in the U.S., the TOEFL is required (submitted to PharmCAS).

How to Apply: For prospective students applying for Fall 2018 admission, a section of the PharmCAS application to McWhorter School of Pharmacy will provide a scholarship application for you to complete. No further action is required on your part to be considered for an incoming student scholarship.

Application Deadline: To receive priority consideration for our scholarships, prospective students should complete the PharmCAS application on or before January 15, 2018. Those who apply after this date will be notified on a rolling basis if/when scholarship funds become available.
