Eligibility:
PhD position: The candidates should have a master degree (or equivalent) in materials physics, theoretical physics of nanostructures, or a related field and should have a good academic record including publications. Some familiarity and knowledge with at least one of the first principles simulation software such as Vienna Ab-initio Simulation Package (VASP) or other similar modelling softwares. Some basic knowledge in at least one of the ab-initio quantum mechanical methods such as density functional theory, tight binding, k.p perturbation theory etc.

Postdoc position: The candidates must have a PhD (or equivalent) in semiconductor devices and/or nano-devices, energy-related fields, or materials physics. The candidate should be able to demonstrate an outstanding academic record, especially with excellent publication records. Furthermore, research experiences in energy-related fields, such as solar cells, solar fuels, or supercapacitor, are highly desirable.

Scholarship Description:We are seeking highly motivated candidates for a PhD and a Postdoc position in the Surface Nano-Structuring Group (Leader: Prof. Dr. Yong Lei) at Institute of Materials Physics and Center for Nanotechnology in the University of Muenster in Germany. The main research fields in the Surface Nano-Structuring Group include surface nano-patterning and molecular surface nano-structures, 1-D nanostructures, and their diverse applications (optical, electronic, and energy-related). Starting dates for all positions are flexible.
