The University of Copenhagen’s Faculty of Law is delighted to announce a fully funded PhD scholarship position. This prestigious opportunity is part of the research project “Anchoring International Law’s Dynamism: Tracing Denmark’s Reception of International Rulings (ANCHOR)” and aims to begin on 1 September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

This PhD scholarship is open to candidates from all nationalities who have obtained a master’s degree in law or a related discipline that corresponds to the Danish Master of Laws degree. Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic record, with a minimum overall grade average of 8.2 or above at the Master’s level according to the Danish grading scale.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
    • Have obtained a Master’s Degree in law or a related discipline equivalent to the Danish Master of Laws degree
    • Achieved a minimum overall grade average of 8.2 or above at the Master’s level (Danish grading scale)
    • May submit application before completing Master’s Degree; degree must be obtained before start date
    • Document aptitude for research through thesis assessment, publications, or academic recommendations
    • Prior knowledge of or experience with refugee and migration law is advantageous
    • Experience with empirical legal research or computational methods is beneficial, or at least an active interest in these areas
    • Ability to read Danish or a related Nordic language is necessary
    • Excellent English language skills and the ability to teach at an academic level in Danish or English.
