Description: PhD Position with Scholarship in Materials Engineering, UBC Dept. of Materials Engineering, Canada Projects are available in the following areas: 1. Development of an inverse heat transfer methodology for designing the location, timing and cooling intensity of cooling elements within a low pressure casting die. 2. Development of a thermal-fluid-solutal transport model and the integration of a microporosity model to quantify the fluid flow and solidification phenomena occurring within the mould cavity and to predict the porosity distribution within the final casting. These projects are available in an internationally-leading research group which is concerned with the development, validation and implementation of process modeling of the casting process.
