The University of Edinburgh is the sixth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland’s ancient universities. The University’s mission is the creation, dissemination and curation of knowledge.

An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 7.0 overall or the equivalent from the approved list of certificates.

Eligibility:

Applicants should have:

  • A postgraduate master’s degree from an accredited institution in the UK or overseas with evidence of above-average academic achievement (more than 65% overall in your Masters) and a postgraduate master’s dissertation with distinction (UK equivalent). MBA or master’s students without a dissertation are welcome to apply and should provide evidence of distinction level (UK equivalent).

Nationality: the UK and international students can apply for these scholarships.

  • How to Apply: You must submit your online application for the PhD programme by the scholarship closing date.
  • Supporting Material: As part of the application process, the student will be required to upload the following supporting documents:
  • Degree certificates and transcripts, including the grading scheme.
  • A research proposal
  • Contact details for two academic referees or two academic written references
  • Evidence of English-language competence (for applicants whose first language is not English).
  • Accepted certificates are found in entry requirements.
  • Justification for part-time study (if applying for this mode of study)
