Eligibility

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the university
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold a Master’s degree in law, with additional training in political and legal philosophy preferred
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of legal principles and academic literature
  • Exhibit flexibility, self-motivation, and proficiency in English
  • Possess excellent research and analytical skills, with a penchant for interdisciplinary approaches.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications online via jobs.vub.be by the deadline of 15/05/2024. The application package should include:

  • CV detailing academic qualifications, research experience, and publications
  • One-page motivation letter
  • A 2000-word research proposal outlining the state of the art, research relevance, methodology, data sources, and organizational plan
  • Copy of a publication (e.g., master thesis, academic report)
  • Contact details of two referees
  • Diploma (not applicable for VUB alumni)

Short-listed candidates will be notified in early June, with interviews expected to follow thereafter. The successful candidate will commence their Ph.D. journey on 1st October 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will receive a full-time Ph.D. scholarship for a duration of 12 months, extendable up to a maximum of 48 months contingent upon positive evaluation of Ph.D. activities.
