Cardiff University is inviting applications for a PhD studentship in the area of Mechanical Engineering. This 4-year fully-funded PhD opportunity will involve working in the School of Engineering at Cardiff University in conjunction with Tata Steel.

This studentship consists of full UK/EU tuition fees, as well as a Doctoral Stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum. An additional enhancement to the of value £200 per month to stipend is included.

Eligibility:

  • Residency: Full awards (fees plus maintenance stipend) are open to UK Nationals and EU students without further restrictions.
  • Academic criteria: Candidates should hold or expect to gain a first-class degree or a good 2.1 and/or an appropriate Master’s level qualification (or their equivalent). Ideally, they would welcome applications from students with a strong background in either mechanical or chemical and processing engineering. A strong understanding of combustion and thermodynamics is also desirable.

What does it cover? This studentship consists of full UK/EU tuition fees, as well as a Doctoral Stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum (£14,057 p.a. for 2015/16, updated each year). An additional enhancement to the of value £200 per month to stipend is included.
