postgraduate placements Computational Methods, University of Wales, Swansea
The School of Engineering has two scholarships available for the degree of PhD in Computational Mechanics. Each scholarship is for 3 years and it covers tuitions fees and maintenance and will be supervised by Professors Oubay Hassan, Ken Morgan and Nigel Weatherill. The aim of the research to be undertaken, is to carry out proof of concept of some speculative ideas that allow for a significant enhancement to the present methods used in computational fluid dynamics, computational electromagnetics and biomedical simulation to be achieved.
User Review( votes)
The research centre has an outstanding international reputation for its research in computational methods applied to a wide variety of engineering problems such as computational fluid dynamics, nonlinear structural analysis, finite element methods, etc. The department has always received the top research rating in all Research Selectivity Exercises, and currently is rated 5*.
The research programmes are ideally suited to candidates with either an engineering background or to those with an initial degree in mathematics. Typically, a minimum of 2.i degree is required.
An application form and more details about the research centre can be obtained from the University website. Completed application forms and any further enquiry should be sent to Professor Oubay Hassan, [email protected]
