Scholarship Description: The Fellowship, supported by the Anthropologists’ Fund for Urgent Anthropological Research (Founding Sponsor Dr George N. Appell) is designed to facilitate ethnographic research on peoples whose culture and language are currently threatened. Such research should, as a primary aim, contribute to anthropological knowledge through detailed ethnography, and also if possible help such peoples in their particular circumstances. Goldsmiths (University of London) will host the programme for three years from 2011, during which two Fellowships will be awarded. Applications are now invited for the second of these (the sixteenth since the programme’s foundation) which will be for £36,000, inclusive of all costs except overheads to be borne by the Fund and host contribution.
