Residency Fellowship for Artists at La Macina di San Cresci in Italy, 2015

La Macina di San Cresci is inviting application for residency fellowship available for artists between 18 and 35 years old. Four artists will be selected to spend one month in residency at La Macina di San Cresci. Upon the collection of € 2250, the first artist on the list will have the possibility of accepting their position as a resident artist. Upon reaching € 4500, the second artist will be offered his or her spot and so on. Thus, it best benefits the applicants to share the GoFundMe page with friends, relatives and fellow artists in order to provide the best opportunity of receiving a fellowship. The applications deadline is December 31, 2014.

Scholarship Description:  La Macina di San CresciLa Macina di San Cresci Artist’s Residency is organizing a collection of funds on the website GoFundMe in order to offer artists the opportunity to spend one month in residency at La Macina di San Cresci in Greve in Chianti, located in the famously beautiful region of Tuscany in Italy.

Number of award(s): Four artists (or more, depending on the success of fundraising efforts) will be selected.

Duration of award(s): The duration of the residency will be one month. Funds are given in one payment at the beginning of the fellowship period.

What does it cover? The cost of each residency is € 2250. Upon the collection of € 2250, the first artist on the list will have the possibility of accepting their position as a resident artist. Upon reaching € 4500, the second artist will be offered his or her spot, and so on. Thus, it best benefits the applicants to share the GoFundMe page with friends, relatives, and fellow artists in order to provide the best opportunity of receiving a fellowship. a fellowship consisting of:
-a 500€ cash award, for materials to be used specifically for the artist’s proposed project at La Macina di San Cresci
-one month of residency at La Macina
-24/7 access to La Macina’s art studios
-Open studio presentations at the end of the residency
-A feature in our yearbook and website based on the artist’s work

Selection Criteria: All applications will be evaluated by a panel comprising o the directors of La Macina di San Cresci, local Cultural Councilors, and professional artists, based upon the following criteria:
-Artistic or professional excellence of the applicant’s work
-Project proposal
-Potential for the applicant to interact with the community in the practice of his or her art form
-Benefit to the applicant, at this time in his/her career, from interaction with other artists and audiences and potential benefit to the host community
Preference will be given to those applicants whose artistic practice integrates innovative approaches to interaction with the community. The decisions of the La Macina di San Cresci and its designated judging panel as to whom will receive fellowship support shall be final, private, and without appeal.

Notification: The result will be communicate at the end of January 2015.

How to Apply: Applicants may submit their applications by mail or email. A complete application must include the following:
1. The Application Form_fellowship;
2. Artist’s Statement (maximum 2000 characters–approx. 400 words).
3. An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae with personal details
4. Detailed project proposal
5. An example of recent work (photographs, catalogues, publications, articles, CD etc.; if sent by email, the images must be in JPG format, max 4MB total)

Scholarship Application Deadline: Fellowship applications must be postmarked or submitted by email by December 31, 2014 at the very latest.
