SKA Undergraduate and Honours Bursary Programme in South Africa, 2017

SKA wants to invite applications for the South Africa undergraduate and Honors Bursary Program. Award is particularly open to the citizens of South Africa who have achieved excellent academic performance.

The aim of the bursary is to enable and encourage talented students of South Africa. The Square Kilometre Array is a large multi-radio telescope project aimed to be built in Australia and South Africa.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • South African citizens are welcome to apply
  • Students who have achieved a minimum of 70% in Mathematics and Physical Science in Grade 12, or a minimum average (grade-point average) of 60% at the undergraduate level.
  • Subjects are available in the following fields: Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Science in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics AND Physics, Science in Physics and Electronics, Computer Science, with co-major in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics, Science – Honours – Physics and Electronics / Astrophysics / Astronomy / Computer Science, Science – Honours – NASSP (National Astrophysics and Space Science Programme)

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: In order to apply for the award, applicants must be part of an institution then they can fill the application form through an online portal.
  • Supporting Documents: There are no documents required to apply for the scholarship.
  • Admission Requirements: For the admission, candidates must have previous year qualification. Students are required to submit proof of registration at their university, to the SKA SA.
  • Language Requirement: If you are non-native English students, you need to achieve a certain level of English to qualify for a place on your chosen course.

Benefits

The scholars will receive an award amount of R121,000 per annum.
