Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: All low- or middle-income countries are eligible to apply.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to postdoctoral researchers in development economics at the Faculty of Business and Economics.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following:
  • Candidates from low- and middle-income countries according to the OECD DAC list of ODA are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates are further required to hold a PhD in development economics or similar before the start date of the fellowship.

The fellowship period is usually from April 1st of one year to March 31st of the following year 2023-2024.

The University of Göttingen will provide a fellowship that includes a monthly stipend and, if applicable, child and family allowances and a travel grant.

  • At least one of the two fellowships will be awarded to a female candidate. Disabled persons with equivalent aptitude will be favoured.
  • Based on German Research Foundation (DFG) guidelines, the scholarship amount follows the guidelines for awarding scholarships at the University of Göttingen, regularly adjusted based on the cost of living to ensure that scholarship holders can live comfortably in Göttingen.
