Eligibility

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for undergraduate studies in the following courses/disciplines at any reputable overseas universities, local autonomous universities, or NTU-NIE:
  • Languages
  • Humanities
  • Art and Music
  • Physical Education and Sports Science
  • Social Sciences
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident who is willing to take up Singapore Citizenship
  • Good character, strong leadership qualities, and a keen passion for education
  • Strong Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) records
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • GCE ‘A’ Levels, International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma, NUS High Diploma or equivalent
  • Scholars who are not pursuing the Bachelor of Arts/Science (Education) course at the National Institute of Education (NIE) will be required to go through the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) course at NIE upon completion of their undergraduate studies.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Applicants who are interested in a PSC or MOE Teaching Scholarship should submit their applications online via the Education Merit Scholarship (EMS).
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants must submit the following documents in the application:
  • Detailed letter describing the field you intend to study, specifying the university they wish to attend
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Copies of letters exchanged with Singapore universities or Singapore supervisors (in the case of a research project)
  • Official original (or notarized copy) of academic records of all relevant studies and test scores, diplomas attesting the completion of an academic degree, including a transcript of student records
  • At least two (2) letters of recommendation from lecturers/professors who taught the candidate
  • Three (3) photographs
  • Admission Requirements: Entry requirements vary. Applicants apply to local and overseas universities on their own.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants will need to present the English language studies at a sufficient level from an academic institute.

  • Be enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) teacher preparation program at the National Institute of Education (NIE) as a salaried employee after completing the first degree.
