Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene offers the Early Career Grants Program in the UK. This program is open to any nationality for the academic year 2023-2024.

The grant aims to enable early career researchers and global health professionals in tropical medicine or global health to undertake clinical or scientific research at the RSTMH. Successful applicants will receive £5,000 (including any taxes on relevant purchases) for up to one year.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following:
  • Anyone early in their research career with any nationality based anywhere in the world can apply.
  • The program aims to encourage and inspire the next generation of global health leaders, innovators, and professionals by allowing them to carry out projects that could improve tropical medicine or global health.
  • Only RSTMH members can receive the funding, but anyone can apply.
  • If successful, Candidates not already members of RSTMH will have their membership funded by one of our partners, or RSTMH will deduct it from their award.

  • Have the ambition to develop knowledge of research methodologies and discipline.
  • Have demonstrated a good understanding of a field of study
  • Demonstrate the ability to produce data under the supervision
  • Use critical analysis and evaluation and be able to synthesize new and complex ideas
  • Competently explain the outcome of their research and the value thereof to colleagues
  • Language Requirement: All applications must be proficient in English language proficiency.
