The Tarbell Fellowship

The Tarbell Fellowship

The Tarbell Fellowship Organisation has come up with a unique opportunity for budding journalists to do great journalism and bring their impact-focused perspective to major newsrooms and publications around the globe. It has started the Tarbell Fellowship for the academic year 2022-2023.

The fellowship program will cover topics that could majorly impact the lives of billions, such as global poverty and existential risks. All early-career journalists can apply for this fellowship. The fellowship is entirely remote. Candidates with a strong commitment to improving the world, a creative approach to storytelling combined with the ability to get to the heart of a new topic quickly, and the ability to doggedly pursue your goals and persevere in the face of adversity will be considered.

Under the Tarbell Fellowship program, selected fellows will receive stipends of $35,000 – $50,000 depending on location and personal circumstances, mentorship under an experienced journalist who will provide critical feedback and challenge the fellow to set goals and deliver on them, and conduct fortnightly mentorship calls, training in remote sessions in best practices, talks from experts in the field and challenging assignments designed to build skills, and an opportunity to attend a two-week summit in Oxford at the beginning of the fellowship.

The Tarbell Fellowship is a one-year program for early-career journalists intent on improving the world. With the belief that good journalism can change the world, the Tarbell Fellowship Organisation is creating a community of journalists focused on covering what’s truly important.

The Tarbell Fellowship Organisation is cultivating the next generation of journalists who will tell stories that matter. As known, humanity faced several key challenges in this century, including reducing catastrophic and existential risks, eradicating factory farming, and ending global poverty. But as also known, these issues receive much less attention than they deserve. The Tarbell Fellowship Organisation seeks to change this.
