Brief Description

  • Course Level: Fellowship is available to pursue the postdoctoral programme.
  • Study Subject: Fellowship is awarded in Kidney research.
  • Scholarship Award: Post Doctoral Fellowship: $55,000 without benefits. Stipends are valued in Canadian dollars and are taxable. It is expected that 50% of the award will be contributed by the KRESCENT Program and 50% will be contributed by the host institution.
  • New Investigator: $65,000 without benefits. Stipends are valued in Canadian dollars and are taxable. It is expected that 50% of the award will be contributed by the KRESCENT Program and 50% by the host institution.
  • Scholarship can be taken in Canada

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the fellowship:

  • Post-Doctoral Fellowship: Awards for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship are tenable under the supervision of investigators holding an academic appointment and in areas of investigation where it is clear that the research has direct relevance to kidney disease. The training program must include involvement in actual research and not only courses in research methods. Candidates with more than four years of post-PhD research training by the competition deadline are not eligible
  • New Investigator: At the time of commencement of the New Investigator Award no more than three years may have passed since the date of the first faculty appointment. Candidates must hold an appointment at a Canadian university at assistant professor level or equivalent.
  • Applicants for both Post-Doctoral Fellowship and New Investigator programs must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants at the time of submission.
  •  Canadian students are eligible to apply for this fellowship.
