University of Leeds 110 Anniversary Research Scholarships in UK, 2014-2015

Applications are invited for up to 110 research scholarships available in any Faculty at the University of Leeds in October 2014. These awards are only available to nationals from the UK and EU and are not open to applicants who are liable to pay academic fees at the international fee rate. Successful applicants will receive payment to cover their University fees for a period of three years, along with a maintenance grant matching the Research Council UK rate. The total value of the three year scholarship is estimated at more than £50,000 per scholar.

Eligibility: To be considered for a University of Leeds 110 Anniversary Research Scholarship you must meet the following criteria:
-these awards are only available to nationals from the UK and EU and are not open to applicants who are liable to pay academic fees at the international fee rate.
-Applicants must have submitted a research degree application form and be in receipt of a student ID number.
-Applicants must not have already been awarded a doctoral degree.
-Applicants must have achieved at least an upper second class honours degree at undergraduate level.
-if your first language is not English you must meet the University’s English language requirements.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Students of UK and EU (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom) can apply for these research scholarships.

Scholarship Description: University of LeedsFor 2014 and 2015 entry a total of 110 new scholarships a year will be available — this has been made possible by an additional investment of more than £10m, supported by the University. Outstanding scholars from any discipline are invited to apply for the funding. To be considered for one of our scholarships you must meet the eligibility criteria and submit a scholarship application form by the relevant deadline.

Number of award(s): For 2014 and 2015 entry a total of 110 new research scholarships a year will be available.

Duration of award(s): The award will be made for one year in the first instance and renewable for a further period of up to two years for full-time study (or up to four years for part-time study), subject to satisfactory academic progress.

What does it cover? Successful applicants will receive payment to cover their University fees for a period of three years, along with a maintenance grant matching the Research Council UK rate. The total value of the three year scholarship is estimated at more than £50,000 per scholar.

Selection Criteria: Not Known

Notification: Applicants can expect to be notified of the outcome of their application by the beginning of June 2014. The University will publish the names of the successful applicants within the University and externally on the University website.

How to Apply: Applicants must complete all sections of the University of Leeds 110 Anniversary Research Scholarships Application Form, with strict observation of any word limits. Please do not include any other documents with the form, such as transcripts or CVs, as they will be disregarded. The completed form (must be typed) should be returned in either Word or PDF format to the Postgraduate Scholarships Office by post or by email to pg_scholarships-at-leeds.ac.uk.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is 30th April 2014.
