University of Leeds 110 Anniversary Research Scholarships, 2015/2016

Applications are invited for University of Leeds 110 Anniversary Research Scholarships available UK and EU students for Session 2015-2016. Up to 110 scholarships are awarded  for new research students undertaking full-time (3 years) or part-time (5 years) study leading to the degree of PhD. These awards are only available to nationals from the UK and EU and are not open to applicants who are liable to pay academic fees at the international fee rate. Total value of the three year scholarship is estimated at more than £50,000 per scholar. The application deadline is 18 February, 2015.

Eligibility: To be considered for a University of Leeds 110 Anniversary Research Scholarship you must meet the following criteria:
-these awards are only available to nationals from the UK and EU and are not open to applicants who are liable to pay academic fees at the international fee rate
-you must have submitted a research degree application form and be in receipt of a student ID number
-you must not have already been awarded, or be currently studying for, a doctoral degree
-you must have achieved at least an upper second class honours degree at undergraduate level
-if your first language is not English you must meet the University’s English language requirements

Scholarship Open for International Students: UK and EU students (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom) can apply for these scholarships.

Scholarship Description: For 2015 and 2016 entry a total of 110 new scholarships a year are available — this has been made possible by an additional investment of more than £10m, supported by the University. Outstanding scholars from any discipline are invited to apply for the funding. To be considered for one of scholarships you must meet the eligibility criteria and submit a scholarship application form by the relevant deadline.

Duration of award(s): The award will be made for one year in the first instance and renewable for a further period of up to two years for full-time study (or up to four years for part-time study), subject to satisfactory academic progress;

What does it cover? Successful applicants will receive payment to cover their University fees for a period of three years, along with a maintenance grant matching the Research Council UK rate. The total value of the three year scholarship is estimated at more than £50,000 per scholar.

Selection Criteria: Not Known

Notification: Applicants can expect to be notified of the outcome of their application by late April 2015. The University will publish the names of the successful applicants within the University and externally on the University website.

How to Apply: Applicants must first submit a research degree study application form and be in receipt of a Student ID Number[1] to be eligible for a University Research Scholarship. Applications without a valid Student ID Number will be rejected. The completed form (must be typed) should be returned in either Word or pdf format by email to pg_scholarships-at-leeds.ac.uk.
