Victoria College, Texas Brings In A Simplified Scholarship Process

The Victoria College, Texas, has simplified its application process for scholarships.

As per the new process, students can individually apply for situation specific scholarship opportunities. Earlier, there was one application available in their Pirate Portal through which students used to apply for a wide number of scholarships.

There are a number of scholarships available for the academic year 2015-16.

These are Victoria College Foundation Scholarships, Workforce and Continuing Education, VISD Dual Credit, Gonzales Center Scholarship, Calhoun County Center Scholarship, Victoria College Transfer student, and ‘What’s your Story?’ scholarship.

The easiest thing to do is once the candidate is accepted at the Victoria College, he/she can use his/her student ID to log into the Pirate Portal and start filling the application form. As the scholarships are authorized by the Victoria College Foundation, it can’t be transferred to any other institution.

The application form for 2015-16 academic year is available from November 3, 2014. The last date of submission is March 5, 2015 for high school students and April 16, 2015 for all other applicants.

Different scholarships have different dates. VC Dual Credit scholarship registration begins on November 11, 2014 and ends on December 15, 2014.

Candidates can access the application form. For Workforce and Continuing Education Scholarship, a candidate has to apply no later than five business days prior to the first day of class.

The Gonzales Center Scholarship is awarded three times a year. The candidate shall have to fill in the online application form before any term he/she wishes to apply. The Calhoun County Center Scholarship is awarded in the month of May and is open to students who reside in Calhoun County. The application form can be accessed here.

The ‘What’s your Story’ scholarship requires a prospective candidate to address a given set of topic either by writing an essay or through video format. The scholarship amount is USD 1000. Interested candidates can submit the form here.

Amy Mundy, Executive Director,VC Foundation,while talking about the application process said, “We know that January through March is a busy time for students. Opening the applications in November gives students the option to use some of the down time they have over the holidays to research and apply for scholarships.”

Victoria College, Texas, started its operation in 1925. It is accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The VC Foundation awards more than USD 400,000 as scholarship on a regular basis.
