University of Bremen invites applications for postdoctoral positions available for German as well as international women researchers. A post-doc position paid pursuant to the salary scale E 13 TV-L for 24 months is granted after the completion of the PhD. Additionally, there is an allowance of up to €10,000 per year to cover e.g. costs of student assistants, publications and international mobility. Within the first 16 months, an application for external subsequent funding for the post-doc’s own position has to be submitted. The application deadline is 1st September 2014.

Eligibility: Doctoral candidates of German or foreign universities whose PhD certificate will be issued until the starting date of employment (at latest ten months after the application deadline) or whose PhD certificate has at the time of the application deadline not been issued longer than one and a half years ago (date of the doctoral degree certificate). The doctorate must not have been attained at the University of Bremen.

Scholarship Description:  University of  BremenThe Post-Doc Initiative offers another career track in addition to the Junior Professorships and the leaders of Junior Research Groups. Positions awarded competitively and with their own budget create more room for independent research in the post-doc phase. Career coaching and intensive counseling prepares the post-docs for their next career step.

-Networking skills and experience of cooperation in the scientific community (for example, research sojourns in other countries, the organization of conferences, edited works)
-Prizes and other awards for academic achievements

-Originality of the proposed project
-Convincing positioning regarding the “state of the art” in the research field
-Convincing substantiation of line of research/hypotheses
-Purposeful selection of methods/procedures and feasibility
-Plausible work and time schedule as well as adequate financing plan
-If applicable, special significance of the project (e.g. socio-political, regional, relevance of transferability)
-Expectations for future acquisition of third-party funding
Integration within the Research Environment of the University of Bremen
-Integration in the research group/institute (thematic fit with the research area)
-Innovative content and individuality of project idea within the context of the hosting research area
-Potential for the development of cooperation with the hosting research area
-Availability of prerequisite infrastructure /equipment
