The Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CÚRAM) is calling Applications for MedTrain Fellowship Programme (2018) to fill up to 31 Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Fellows (experienced researchers). MedTrain Fellowships are open to candidates of any nationality.

The Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CÚRAM) is a national, SFI funded, €49.6m research centre that brings together researchers from NUI Galway, University College Dublin, Dublin City University, University of Limerick, University College Cork, Trinity College Dublin and Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. The prime objective for CÚRAM is to radically improve health outcomes for patients by developing innovative implantable ‘smart’ medical devices to treat major unmet medical needs.

Scholarship Description

  • Course Level: Fellowships are available to pursue research.
  • Study Subject: Career Development and Mobility Fellowships in Medical Device Research and Development – A CÚRAM Industry-Academia Training Initiative. MedTrain offers prestigious two-year fellowships to eligible experienced researchers in the area of Medical Device Research and Development, including Research in Development of Roadmaps for Commercialization of Medical Devices, Functional Biomaterials and Developing Research Methodology in Measuring Impact of Biomedical Science Communication. This is a research and training focused role.
  • Scholarship Award: Fellowship of value €33,616-43,525 per annum; Remuneration is in line with EC rules for Marie Sk?odowskaCurie COFUND grants.
  • Nationality: MedTrain Fellowships are open to candidates of any nationality.
  • Number of Scholarships: Up to 31 full-time fixed term positions are available.
  • Scholarship can be taken in Ireland

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:

MedTrain Fellowships are open to candidates of any nationality. In order to be eligible, applicants must at the time of recruitment (14th December 2018):

  1. Be in possession of a doctoral degree, or have at least four years full-time equivalent research experience.
  2. Not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Ireland for more than 12 months in the three years immediately prior to this date. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken in to account.

The reference date for the time of recruitment corresponds to the end of the application process (following production of the final ranking list), when successful candidates will be notified of intent to offer a contract at one of the host institutes.

English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

How to Apply: Candidates are required to develop a project proposal in collaboration with a CÚRAM Principal Investigator (from those listed on the MedTrain website www.medtrain.eu), and submit their proposal via the online application system, which can be accessed via the website. The system will remain open for applications until midnight (UTC) on the call deadline 26th September 2018.
